They sell those electric welders in DIY shops over here. Not sure how "good" they are but they work.

Ray
The XPR-7 will work with either 120V or 230V, autodectect. The recommended usage will be 230V dedicated circuit. If you are really considering one of these units, I recommend that you call Lonnie and go over the pros and cons of the diet you should be feeding this baby.
I think that during Emofest, Big Dan said that he felt that a dedicated 230V, 30A circuit would be best. He may have said 20A but I just can't recall which it was. ;D

The XPR-7 better be able to toast some Fajitas or something cool!!! ;D

Those are great. thank you! What time does the matinee start? ;D I have the new Star Trek Blu-ray sitting here... but I refuse to watch it until I have a pre-pro. The theater is shut down due to crappy TV speakers!!! I suppose we can sit around and just watch repeats of House and gorge ourselves on Slurpees and Popcorn.

Rayovac Unless your listening room is monsterous, your MPS-2 amp will be more than enough to drive the Emotiva speakers to ear-bleeding SPL levels. Emotiva routinely uses XPA-1 Mono Block Amps to demo their ERT-8.3 speakers. Emotiva speakers love power, they sound very clean and have great clarity at all volume levels... without a hint of any stress. You have assembled a very exceptionable speaker system using Emotiva's award winning line. Every owner who has posted on this board loves the package you have purchased. Some of them replaced their prior speakers (that had cost them five times as much) with the same exact models you chose. Amazing sound quality is the hallmark of Emotiva speakers. Sit back and enjoy. Well... I have not bought them yet, still fence sitting. Also started looking at the Paradigm Studio .V5... but based on the cost... it sure seems like I see lots of positive ERT, ERM comments saying stuff like "they are very close to the Paradigms". Well if that is true, why pay 3 or 4 times more? My listening room (HT Room) is 20x25 with vaulted ceilings (only to about 10 feet) with about a 8 foot opening at the front right corner. Picture from the open corner at the end of this post. One big hurdle crossed... My Wfe bought into the idea of me selling all the Klipsch stuff for the Emotivas. That was a big hurdle to overcome. Oh yeah and I have an MPS-1, I know the guts are the same as an MPS-2, but it looks better!!!! ;D Sure it does not match anything anymore, oh well. RayoVac, trust me you will like the Emo Speakers over the Paradigm Studio Version 5 models. I just replaced a Studio Version 5 system with the ERM-6.2's and ERD system and there is no comparison IMHO. The reason I upgraded and switched to the Emo speakers is that I could not get the sound just right in my room and spending hours upon hours trying to get it set up correctly. I thought it was mainly my room but decided what the heck lets try the 6.2's and see what they can do plus if I don't like them I can send them back within the 30 days but if I do I can sell the Paradigms (which I did) and save a LOT of money to buy a XPA-3 which I did as well. To make a long story short I am really impressed with the Emo Speakers and would highly recommend them to anyone. To help out I have owned the following speakers within the last 2 years: B&W 803's, HTM1 Center and SCM surrounds Definitive Technology BP7001's, CLR3000 Center and BPVX rears and surrounds Klipsch RF-83's, RC-64 Center and RS-62 rears and surrounds Paradigm Studio Series Version 5 10 and 20's Emotiva ERM-1's Emotiva ERM-6.2's LCR's and 4 ERD's The Emotiva's just sound right to me and in my room and system. NOW, I am thinking about updating to ERT-8.3's and ERM-6.3...Ugh ;D

By the way, your ICEE machine rocks. My kids would love it. Of course they would spend hours upon hours on a serious sugar buzz which would drive me to child abuse...lol

vthokies, Thanks so much for the reply. I am extremely interested in your comments not just because of the comparison to the Paradigm Studios, but I also notice in your "Owned in the last few years" list you have a Klipsch Ref listed, which would be the updated offering of my Ref-7 series. A couple of questions: Not sure how long ago you had the Klipsch... but can you remember/compare vs. the Emotiva stuff? As I mentioned previously my biggest complaint about the Klipsch right now comes from the lack of midrange clarity (mail voices etc.) in the RC-7. Can you comment on the clarity of sound from the 6.2 as your center when watching movies? Do you feel voices are well defined? I have to turn my system up so loud to efficiently hear all frequencies from the RC-7 (talking, non-action) then when a loud or action sequence occurs, we get blown out of the room. Compared to your RS-62s do you feel the ERDs fill as well? As others who are not horn fans complain, I guess maybe I am ready for a change from the brightness and harshness of the horns. Also... just out of curiosity given the stable of other speakers you have had, why did you start with the 6.2 instead of the 6.3/8.3 combo? Was it primarily a budget reason or other? My wife and I don't have kids... but our many of our friends do, and yup... they VERY frequently go home with Sugar Highs!!! It works for me, because they go home with "Mom and Dad" after I get them all sugared up!!!! I know I have asked a bunch of questions, thanks in advance for any and all info you can provide. I know how subjective speaker choice is and that many folks say "listen for yourself and decide". Given the myriad of choices out there, finding someone who seems to have similar listening opinions as yours and being able to review there choices, helps narrow the field. Rayo

I have been following the emotiva boards for a few months now and I am happy with their products. I have found the same issues as Rayovac concerning the center channel on my rc-64. I am also curious if anyone has done a comparison of emotiva speakers versus klipsch reference series. Any info would be appreciated.
