I will be getting a pair of 6.2 s and 1 6.3 center to replace my ascend acoustics speaker lcr setup. I already have 4 erd-1 speakers for surround duty. I have been so impressed with the erd-1 speakers that i finally decided to switch to the emotivas upfront. I will post a review to compare them to the ascends ( which i always thought sounded great until i heard the emotivas) They will be arriving tomorrow. I could not decide if this configuration would be nearly as good as using 3 6.3 speakers so i called emotiva and the tech told me that with a good sub i would notice very little difference using the 6.2 as LR speakers compared to 3 6.3 speakers. The cost sure was alot less.

I too have Ascends up front and Emotiva for Surrounds and have been contemplating the 6.3 for up front replacement. I have been thinking about ordering a 6.3 for the center channel to see how it compares before ordering a full replacement. I am hoping that the 6.3 will sound "fuller" than the Ascend 340 center. I would really appreciate if you would test the 6.3 center with the Ascends L/R too for comparison. I am anxious to here your results.

I mounted the 6.2 s on the wall on either side of my screen and the center on a hstand under the screen They do souind great better than the ascends for music imo dialogue is crystal clear through the 6.3 center. Overall i am very pleased They ofcourse blend perfectly with my erd surrounds the ascends did not. I did not realize this until i heard the emotiva speakers up front. I cant help but wonder how the 8.3 s would sound. I hope i dont keep thinking this because i cant afford anything else right now ( the transmission just went on my wifes 2003 accord) Thw emotiva speakers sound extremely detailed and clear more so than the excellent ascend speakers that they replace. I would not say that they are a huge improvement over the ascends for hometheater. I dont think i am missing much by not using 3 6.3s however i keep thinking about the 8.3s too bad thye sale price on those wasnt better.

There are comments on the forum about the 6.2s with a good sub sounding as good as the 8.3s. So, if you not are finding a major difference between the 6.2/6.3 combo versus all 6.3s, then you are likely in great shape.

I recently sold my 8.3s replacing them with a pair of 6.2s. I don't miss the 8.3s at all. I use a pair of 12" subs for music along with the 6.2s. The 6.2s are very good.

I just wish they offered a "tower version" of the 6.2 and/or 6.3. Tall, slim speakers are just sexy and I don't have to worry about the speaker being knocked off a stand. If they just took the cabinet and extended it down to the floor, positioning the tweeter at sitting ear level height and then leave the bottom of the tower hollow with an opening to add sand to weigh the speaker down to reduce cabinet vibrations and increase stability, add the nice little outrigger/spike system that the 8.3 uses and whala, great sound and awesome looks. Oh, and instead of any badges, just add a cool little emo "e" drawn/stamped on the bottom front of the speaker in "Emo Blue" of course. ;D

Update I made some changes and that did the trick I dont know if they needed to break in alittle but once i moved the tweeter inside on the 6.2 s it opened up the soundstage alot I ran audyssey on my onkyo 885 soon to be replaced by umc-1 I also use the boundry setting and put the tweeter to =2 and raised the center channel a few inches. These changes made an enourmous difference After listening for the past hour i found myself not thinking even once about the 8.3 s

I recently sold my 8.3s replacing them with a pair of 6.2s. I don't miss the 8.3s at all. I use a pair of 12" subs for music along with the 6.2s. The 6.2s are very good. Since I am currently considering going with Emotiva speakers, I am very interested in your comment. Do you mind sharing why you replaced your 8.3s?

I've been reading the 6.2 reviews for the past several months (along with the other models) and getting more impressed the more I read. Sooo....I had to try them so I bought a pair . Given the price of the current sale I would have kept them and moved the ERM-1s out of the bedroom and moved the 6.2s in - or move the 8.3s out and my 2 DIY subs in and the 6.2s on top of them. With the subs the 6.2s give nothing away to the 8.3s. By themselves they sound thin on the low end - but they are designed to roll off at 80hz. The ERM-1s and the 6.2s are nearly identical to each other. I think the 6.2s do male vocals a bit better but other than that it really is a push. Not enough differences to quibble over. I like the larger look of the 6.2s. If that makes me vain - oh well.
