Hi folks,Happy Holidays to all. I truly enjoy my DMR-1. This year I have added 3 - 6.2 speakers and a pair of ERD-1 for my rears. I am considering adding an XPA-5 to my system and need that bit of encouragement. Would it make a difference? I am sure the answer is yes ,but I respect this forum and appreciate any advice. Thanks.

I also own and love a DMR, and have asked this question before. As good as the DMR is, everybody still said I would hear an improvement. Even with my very efficient speakers. I haven't got an XPA yet, but I might not even bother until I get the XMC-1. The DMR-1 by far the best receiver I've owned, and even better than the separates I used to own, and I'm still enjoying it very much without the help of an XPA-5. So I figured I should just wait for the XMC-1 and then buy it, and the XPA-5. That's just me though. If you don't plan on buying the UMC or XMC or any other pre/pro, then I would go ahead and buy the XPA-5 now.

Kona,
I also own a DMR-1 and have had the chance to listen to it drive the 5 speakers I have ( not including the subwoofer ) and it did a great job, much better than the older onkyo I had. When I teamed it up with the LPA-1...there was a distinct difference, very noticeable, talk about something opening up. I imagine you would experience the same, if not more so with the XPA 5.

Definently add the xpa-5!! Use the dmr for side axis, bass shakers, or 7th channel surround. The xpa-5 wiil add dynamics and headroom for excursions

Well it has arrived! Just finished hooking it up. Will spend the weekend putting it through its paces. Seems to have a cleaner sound,I was expecting more of a boomy punch, but there is a lot more clarity. If that makes sense. It is heavy and solid.

I added a XPA-3 with the DMR with reserved expectations because the DMR did such a great job. I couldn't be more pleased with the SQ with the addition. I'll eventually get the XPA-2 to go with the XPA-3 but as of now, its difficult to imagine much improvement.
