Just a little background before sharing some brief thoughts on the XPA-5. I'm not an audiophile by any means but have always been fascinated by stereo gear. I've always wanted to have separates but have never been able to afford them. I've also been visiting this site regularly for about a year and had actually wanted to pull the trigger last year at this time but things just didn't work out. About a week and a half ago I finally took the plunge and ordered my first piece of Emotiva gear - an XPA-5. I must also admit that I was very skeptical even after reading all the reviews and comments from Emotiva users. I just didn't see how gear this inexpensive could make such a dramatic difference and inspire such a rabid following. Anyway, after receiving my purchase I proceeded to take it home and began hooking it up. In addition to the XPA-5 I also ordered 5 X series RCA cables and a pair of the X Series speaker cables for my mains. I was a little discouraged when I first began listening because I thought channel 2 was bad. After a little trouble shooting I found out that the speaker wasn't connected securely. Problem solved and I was ready, finally. I started by listening to some cd's and was impressed immediately, but when I switched my Yamaha AVR to what they call "Pure Direct" the sound I heard was nothing short of amazing. I finally heard what everyone was talking about - clarity, depth and detail that I wasn't hearing before. I've also watched some Blu Ray movies including Master And Commander. All I can say is WOW! Same thing - clarity and detail that I wasn't hearing before, especially from my surrounds. Now, as you can see by my gear profile, I have a very modest system. Especially the Polk's that I use as my mains. These little bookshelf speakers cost less than $300/pair and have no right to sound this good! Unfortunately, I now have upgraditis as I can only imagine what a decent set of speakers would sound like paired with the XPA-5. So to sum things up all I can say is I couldn't be happier with my purchase. When you hear people saying that these products are worth 2 or 3 times their price this is absolutely true. If you're on the fence about purchasing Emotiva gear all I can say is don't wait because you'll be missing out on so much enjoyment, I know I did for over a year. And with the holiday pricing that they have going on, I can say without reservation that these products are an absolute steal. Thank you Emotiva you've earned a customer for life! Now all I have to do is figure out how to finance a new speaker system ;D

Two different towers, two different bookshelves, a center and surrounds...all coming in much less, price-wise than our current speakers, which will become the 'Reference' or X line. Hopefully, that's good news.
