I was just sharing my experience. I started budilding a HTPC a couple of years ago with the LG Blu-ray rom. The rom came with a copy of PDVD. It used to support playback of BD BDMV ripped from AnyHD DVD(my main usage). On subsequent upgrade of PDVD, it dropped the BD ISO/BD BDMV support which caused a lot of discontent from users or new buyers without knowing this. I then moved on to add the Asus HDAV sound card for HD audio. It came with TMT which support BD BDMV/BD ISO. So I stopped using PDVD therefrom. And now the new ATI 5xxx card comes to play. I only said it does not support the playback of BD BDMV/BD ISO by itself. Your using virtualCloneDrive is definitely a workaround for BD ISO (but not for BD BDMV; AnyHDDVD only enabled ripping to BD ISO on its upgrade version). Sorry if I have mis-spread things around. I did not focus for the difference between PDVD and TMT. Nowadys I just try to enjoy the benefit and easiness of what TMT can offer to me(playback ripped BDMV & HD audio). BTW, would apprecaite if you could enlighten me of the shortcomings of TMT,i.e. -what formats not playing properly? I am using version 3.0.13.139 with WinXP SP3. I think it was a problem with one of the new HD audio formats. I can't find the exact post. Here is the thread. www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1179134&page=139its on one of the last 5 pages. many are waiting for a TMT patch to resolve the issue. With ANYDVDHD running you can rip an ISO of a blu ray movie. With Virtual Clonedrive(free from slysoft) you can mount the .ISO file. The newest version of Powerdvd ultra(the only one i tested) launches the movie and plays it just fine. Perhaps you are using a Free OEM copy of Powerdvd with limited features? TMT may support playback of an ISO file direcly?? Powerdvd needs the .iso file mounted. The key overall is to remove the encryption from the .ISO that you create using AnyDVDHD. AnyDVDHD is essential for anyone running an HTPC in my opinion. Is there a way to stream an ISO to a PS3? I don't have a HTPC but I rip all my DVD's and stream them with Windows home media...the problem is when you rip a Bluray you run into the Audio track being the incorrect language or it has directors comments, etc. I just can't figure out how(and I don't think it can be done) to stream an ISO via the PS3.

We should probably not discuss encryption removal on Emotiva's forums ...

With this does the iso have to be mounted or can the file just be chosen via the ps3 browser?

Not sure - but it has similar functionality to TVersity so would be worth playing with I think. If it doesn't do something, you can always submit a feature request.

We should probably not discuss encryption removal on Emotiva's forums ... +1 There are plenty of other places for that. This should be taken offline.

You cannot stream an ISO file to anything. The PS3 can only stream certain formats natively and an ISO is not one of them.
You would need to convert the blu ray to a different format.

Anyone else with an HTPC any experiences to report? Are there EDID issues? Does the television not wake back up after switching sources? Any issues of these types with the HDMI pass through on the UMC-1?

Jepp, I got a major issue with passing hdmi through the umc-1. It doesn't seem to work. I'm sending 1360x768 @60hz from my MacBook Pro through. It arrives at the TV in a nasty green tint with whatever resolution was selected last (e.g. when 480P was selected before pass-through it arrives in 480P, when 720P was selected before pass-through it arrives in 720P) Either way it gives overscan issues and a really bad green tint. I'm gonna give Emotiva a call tomorrow, see what they got to say... I'll probably send it back if they can't fix this. This was the main reason I switched and waited so long from my Denon 3808... (I was without a sound-system since May)

Can you change the format the Mac sends? e.g. I see on the ATi control panel for my 5750, you can set it to RGB or some form of component over the HDMI - the compnent style looks best, but there are also some different cadence options there, 444 Vs 422 etc. so if the Mac driver can do the same it might be worth a fiddle.

I'm not sure about what all I can output, I use a tool called DisplayConfigX, which has lots of options. I played around and tried out a bunch of different stuff, but nothing really worked. Yesterday I called and they told me to wait after the update to see if that would fix it, if not call back.

I have a dell laptop hooked to a docking station. Res is set to 1920 x 1080.
If I remove it from the DS then I have to get the UMC up first then boot the laptop. But if I do not remove it and leave it on then there is no problem no matter how many times I shut off the UMC. (weird)
I had to adjust the screen in properties reduce the hor and vert size a little to keep it all on my 52 Samsung LCD.

Perhaps the dock leaves it's output "live" whether there is a laptop in it or whether the laptop is on or off?
EDIT: Does the samsung have different "mode" options? If so, they can affect the overscan.
e.g. on my Toshiba, I have to set it to "Game" mode to get the full non-overscanned PS3 image - it also removes some processing giving a faster frame response too I think.
Worth checking the menus/manual anyway.
Also look for an over scan (100% is probably best) or "1:1" or "native" pixel mapping etc.

I get a pink or green screen whenever I try to pass hdmi through the umc at a resolution greater than 640x480 on my mac mini or MacBook pro. Very annoying. I will probably return the unit if it isn't fixed. Anyone else with an HTPC any experiences to report? Are there EDID issues? Does the television not wake back up after switching sources? Any issues of these types with the HDMI pass through on the UMC-1?

Bringing this thread back full circle.... After a week of tinkering I've managed to get some semblance of stability with a HTPC connected to my UMC-1. I've definitely poured blood, sweat and a few beers Since my last post on this sort of subject I've since removed my PCI video card with DVI -> HDMI. It worked probably 10% of the time after a lot of handshake problems. Now I'm using the HDMI connection directly on my motherboard (Asus M378-EM) to my UMC-1. Pretty straightforward. I do get a pretty long delay as the two sync up. I also had to make sure on my logitech it turned on the TV, UMC-1 switched to the HDMI-3 input for my HTPC and then turn on the PC. The best thing about this motherboard and this option; it passes sound so one less cable to worry about - and since I just watch streamed netflx (supporting only SD in Stereo) it works perfectly... The thing I'm now struggling with is the video upconvert... I'd love to leave alone and Pass but since the setting is global I'm not sure I want to sacrifice some of the nice video processing capabilities just for my HTPC. I'm currently set to 1080p but the picture is pretty bad on my HTPC with this setting... So I'm trying to experiment with what my harmony can offer and toggle through; but early days. Anyway I hope this is somewhat useful to others... It can be done and I've just watched a few shows/films on netflix no problem...
