Lets be real here. In all reality how many watts do surrounds really need? Do we really need 200+ for surrounds? I know we all want it.

Guess it really depends on what your using for rears, how loud you want them, and how far away you are sitting from them.
The reality is that you won't need that for rears in the vast majority of setups.

So in reality I could get by with upa amp for surrounds and probably not hear a difference from them to the xpa amps in the surrounds.

I have XPA-5 for my mains/sides and a UPA-2 for my surrounds. No difference - and it works beautifully. I can't imagine needing more than that...
