That is interesting.. does it allow much tilt-room if you want to point a speaker downward? Also, the seller said he advises keeping the weight under 20 lbs. How sturdy is that stand? Is there pressure put on the television itself or does the stand bear the weight? Thanks!

Yes, it allows you to tilt quite a bit but the documentation warns you about tilting too much or your center channel might slide off. It's quite sturdy, I think it holds 40lbs. The 20lb number comes from the fear you might hurt the TV with too much weight. It comes with anti-slide pads for the speaker shelf and the support arm that sits on the TV stand (although I changed this one from one to two with some I had). I think its a pretty good design overall....
