i will be hooking up my system soon with its new additions and am wondering about a couple of things besides bugs.
1. i have two nht u1 subwoofers that use two a1 amps and one x1 crossover that takes care of bass management. will i be able to incoporate this into my system or will the umc1 want to handle the bass mgt? i currently use the xpa5 and my old av receiver with no problems.
2. can i let my oppo 83 process the video and let the umc1 take care of the audio using hdmi? if not recommendations please.
can't wait to kick back and finally enjoy some blu-ray movies and music with this but i'm afraid i have a few more miles to go yet.

I will allow the subs to control the bass management or it can handle all of it. It is up to you. The same with the Oppo 83. You can choose to let the Oppo to handle all the post processing or you can have the UMC-1 do it. Several owners have reported that they tried implementing post processing both ways and preferred the video quality provided by the UMC-1. The felt the UMC-1 was just a little better at handling that chore than the Oppo was. The point is, its the user's choice; and, it is very easy to set it up both ways giving you the ability to pick the one you like better. What could be better than that? Enjoy your new purchase. ;D

thanks roadrunner. with no firsthand knowledge i thought the oppo would be better on video especially from what i've heard about it's upconverting ability with standard dvd.
