The PQ on the Special Edition Bond films is spectacular. Like seeing them in the cinema all over again. The sound is terrible on the remixed surround tracks, but fortunately you can select the original mono sound tracks which is much better.

Last night I watched the African Queen and Emmanuelle two classics on blu-ray. The African Queen looked stunning for a film from 1951. If you are a fan of this movie you will not be disappointed. Who'd have thunk Emanuelle would be a classic! ;D

Last night: 'Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen'. BD of course, always, unless otherwise specified. Talk about chaos of sounds, colors, action!... And one heck of a cute chick!

I've been watching episodes of The Prisoner on Blu Ray the past few nights.. what a great (and mysterious) series! Patrick McGoohan was the perfect person for that role. The video quality is great for something made back in the 60's. The audio is eh, but what can you expect from back then. A very intelligently-made series!

Finally watched 300 on BR (originally just standard dvd) and I have to say I was very impressed. The audio was superb, more than I expected.

Last night I dusted off "The Patriot." What a great movie. The PQ isn't that great, as it seems to be a little fuzzy, but the audio is good with all the cannons going off.

'U-571' on HD DVD. ...The Audio soundtrack is only DD+ or plain Jane DTS, sucks! * And I don't like this movie much either; the acting is poor, the writing is poor, the message (patriotism) is poor, the music irritates me, the picture quality is mediocre, the locales are poor (bathtub), the effects are cheesy, the depth charges ring totally wrong, the movie is a try at cashing in at a better sub's movie (Das Boot), this movie is a travesty with fake rain, fake acting ... and the overall feel is also poor & makes me feel miserable. Next...

'Miami Vice' on HD DVD. It's OK, not great though, but with few scenes that I personally like, as the opening from the beginning of the film (speed boats on the ocean) for example, and few more intense shooting (gun battles) scenes.
And it is kind of sad thar the Audio soundtrack is only Dolby Digital Plus, which is a compressed audio codec (quite heavilty too).
But overall I'm satisfy. ..And hey it's a personal choice right?

Last night we watched Bolt on BR (again). It is a very cute movie, spectacular picture and sound. I love the slow motion scene where Bolt jumps over the helocopter, lots of LFE. With a 3,2,and 1 year old and small house, I am very limited on what I can watch, and how loud. I am very curious to how the BR LotR stacks up to the DVD. The Directors DVD with DTS upscaled by my PS3 looks and sounds pretty darn good! One of these days, I'll get grandma to take the kids, and I'll sit and watch all 12+hrs of Directors edition LotR at or above reference!! The night before we watched the Princess and the frog on BR. It was pretty good. I still think the Lion King was their best classic animated movie. Also, we can get a good price on Toy Story 1 and 2 on BR, is it THAT much better than the upscaled DVD that we should buy them again?

About Toy Story 1 and 2 - the reviews at www.blu-ray.com were raving about them. I bought both from Amazon but haven't watched it yet. It sounds like it is a worthwhile expenditure especially with the deals being offered now.

2012. Didn't really grip me the way I expected it to. Maybe I expected too much but I'm glad I didn't pay to see it at the movie theater. Ah well.. I got it pretty cheap and it has its moments.
