Got my lightly used XPA5 today and all I can say is "WOW". I've owned very high dollar stuff. $10,000 Audio Research amps, full tube Cary systems, and the like. Mucho gear has passed through my home over the years. My addiction started in college and ramped up as my income did.
I haven't had a chance to run this amp through all the paces, but for now, excellent is what comes to mind first. I didn't think my Triad inwall speakers could sound much better. They only use a 4" driver and a 1" tweeter. I also have a Triad powered in wall sub, so the XPA5 only has to do light duty. I guess I was wrong. The little Triads sound so much crisper and clear, even dynamic than they did off my Rotel receiver. I've got larger Triad in walls in my living room 2 channel system and that will be the next test. I've got a pair of UPA1's and a USP on their way to power that room. When my UMC1 ships out the theater will kick some serious butt!
This is my first Emotiva product and I am very pleased. I was hesitant to pay 80% of retail for a 1 year used amp, but I'm glad I did!

It will now be used just as a pre/pro until my UMC1 gets here, then hopefully I can sell it to get some cash towards an Oppo 83se so I don't have to use my PS3 for blue ray duties.

your running a Yamaha RX-V3900 with b@w speakers wow what a bad match Tried quite a few AVR's out and it was the Yammy that sounded best for the price... I was always planning on getting seperate amps so the amp section wasn't a concern.. AVR's I tried were Pioneer, Denon, Onkyo, Rotel, etc. I looked at more expensive AVR,'s but I figured why waste my money I see that you are getting an XPA-5, which would tell me that your Rotel is lacking as well I even had the Rotel RMB-1095 200watts x 5 channels home to test in my Theater.. What a joke that was... Thankfully I came across the Emotiva web site and true controlled power and finess! Thanks for the bash on my equipment... Can't wait to see your future posts!

sorry wow factor it was a bad day I'm sorry you had a bad day! I hope today is better, brighter, and much more fun ... I'm sorry I dished on your Rotel as well! How are you liking your 603's? I'm going to be looking for some new speakers soon for our zone 3, as I ordered a pair of UPA-1 Mono Blocks... I'd really love to get a pair of Martin Logans but I don't think it's in the budget.. I miss my Martin Logans that I had a few years back.. Anyway, never let the day bring you down because there's always someone to cheer it back up ;D ;D ;D ;D

Why can't every argument get resolved that quickly and maturely on this forum?

I really do have to dissagree about the 1095. I have driven 5 towers FULL RANGE and that thing doesn't ever let up or even break a sweat and still maintains awesome SQ/Depth. YES it does cost considerably more...BUT...it is far from a joke...

Hence the wording.. In My home theater... To my ears it sounded laboured and messy... I had it home for a week and didn't like it.. Also I could have had it for a song $1600.00 which is cheap here in Canada.
