I have had the XPA-5 for about two weeks. It replaces a Denon AVR-5805. Which is up for sale (any interest, lol?). I am pairing it with the Denon AVP A1HD processor. From a cost standpoint you would not naturally pair these two but I have been reading the site for a few months and thought what the heck. If I don't like it I am not out much and, if I do, then that is a great bargain! Sonically it seems to match the Denon receiver internal amps pretty well. If you are not familiar with the 5805 suffice it to say it is a beast of it's own weighing ~100 lbs with 10 internal powered channels. I have never been displeased with the sonics of the 5805. Just wanted separates and more flexibility. The XPA-5 is driving Mirage OMD5s (4) and OMD-C1 (center). Sonically it gets out of the way and that is the biggest compliment. I do not detect any signature, again you're hearing the music. It has light duty in that it is driving smaller bookshelf speaker. Many thanks to Emotiva for providing a product at a price point with performance that is not equaled! Bravo. I am contemplating the possibility of adding (5 or 6) XPA-1s to my other main theater. I am debating buying these and trying them similar to my XPA-5 experiment. My existing OCMs (800s & 500s) have been excellent over the years but you get an itch to try something new. The price point is impressive for a true differentially balanced amp! I'll save this for the XPA-1 thread but wanted mention here in case there are others monitoring that have any thoughts.
