like to ask you guys something when i hooked up the xpa-5 i did not have the center channel hook up. i thought i did so i turn it on and all the led lights went from red to blue so i thought eveything was good. but then i noticed there was no sound coming from the center channel. what i am asking is why did the amp not show me a red light why did it go to blue.

There is a switch on the back of the amp for each channel that select balanced or un-balanced inputs. I bet if you take a quick look you will see the switch for your center channel is in the wrong position. So take a quick look and see. Its usually something simple.

No - the lights stay blue any time the amp has juice (even if there is nothing plugged into it). They only go red when booting or if there is a problem.

Yes, the power is brighter than the status lights. TBH Lonnie, the power lights are way too bright - especially for a dark HT - I have tape over all mine which is a bit ugly. Power light switches (or as I suggested before) custom Emotiva "dark plastic dimming discs" (TM Nemesis <G>) would be great.

i was wondering this also... as i have a UPA-7 and a XPA-3 and the LED lights on the UPA-7 are so much brighter then on the XPA-3. I am using XLR cables for the connection to the XPA-3 and RCA cables to the UPA-7 i don't think that this should matter at all.
but i would like to know why the lights are different between the 2 amps.

same here... the status lights on my XPA3 are hardly visible, even in a dark room (yes the switch is in the right position). why?
the power light, on the other hand...

This is a minor cost for Emo to correct im sure. There just LED lights however it's what we see on the front of the amp when its on and they should ALL match. I hope there not mixing different LED's as this would be a serious quality control problem. Something so inexpensive causing so many problems. A dimmer switch would be nice or easier yet perhaps an off switch for movie time sounds like an easy proposition.

I noticed that on one of my UPA-2s one of the status lights is a lot dimmer than the other when it is booting up and is red, but when both turn blue they are both brighter and about the same.

The lights on my XPA-3 are much brighter than the lights on my XPA-2, and I have always wondered why. It's funny that my XPA-3 is the bright one out of the two since everyone else is saying their XPA-3 is the dim one
