I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Emo products. Both in sound and build. Those three components will give you a great first impression of what Emotiva is capable of. You can't really do a whole lot better, unless you spend a whole lot more money.

Greetings fellow lounge lizards. I'm finally about to stop lurking around the Lounge living vicariously through all your posts. I just placed my first Emotiva order: ERC-1, USP-1, and UPA-2. I'm more of a home theater guy, and plan to eventually get a XMC-1/XPA-5 combo with some Emo speakers, but decided to dip my toes in the Emo water with this budget stereo set-up. I have to say, my expectations are pretty high (hopefully not too high)! Can't wait to see what the fuss is all about. I let you know if it lives up to the hype for me. I've always wanted a dedicated 2-channel rig, but didn't think I could afford both. Dave Hi Dave, Sounds excellent! * By the way, some are lizards (very few, only three I think), but few more are true wizards!

Thanks guys! I'll definitely let you know what I think once they arrive and I have a chance to set them up.

What speakers will you be driving with EMO? Nothing serious. I'll be using a pair of Polk RT800s from my theater room for now. I was really tempted to try out a pair of ERM-6.2s and the little Ultra Sub 10, but it wouldn't be practical right now.

Initial impression of the ERC.....SWEET! Until I get my USP-1 in next week I'll just be using the ERC through my Denon receiver, but I can already tell it's something special. For one, the error correction is amazing. I had an old Stevie Ray Vaughn CD that was all scratched up. Only the first two tracks would play, and sometime they would skip. I stuck it into the ERC and it play flawlessly on all tracks. Stevie never sounded better in my house.
I also had a Chesky recording of a piano with orchestra accompaniment. I had my eyes closed and could tell which way the piano was facing and could almost see the orchestra. At one point I opened my eyes and was actually startled to see that I was in my theater room. That probably sounds like BS, but it happened.

If my system can sound any better, not sure I wanna know.......wonder what a new amp would do to improve the sound?
