And yes, everything is in my bedroom. I'm stuck in this room and bed because I have ALS. But it's a pretty cool room. I knew you were in bed. See below.

Seaton SubMersive (dual 15' drivers, ice power plate amp, etc) to my ears - best musical and HT sub so far. At least I didn't hear more musical sub yet...

More of a boombox really....To be honest, it is a decent "sub" for $40, it certainly adds some boom when needed, but it is by no means amazing. My upgrade plan is a pair of Rythmiks.

M&K MX-70 that I bought in 1991... great sounding sub, just too small for my big room. I have to set my mains to large to kind of fill in unfortunately.

Man - artiek, ntrain and animo etc.... suer are making me fill inadequate right in the bass thank`s Don't worry man, big subs are just a compensation for feeling inadequate in other areas... ;D I have to agree... I've had big subs... Bigger is not always better especially when my current sub with three teeny little 8" drivers in it will completely overpower the rest of my speakers at half volume.

Everyone knows it doesn't matter how big it is. What matters is how fast it moves. ;D

I like small subs. My personal choice. I prefer sealed over ported. (yep I know many people like ported just as much and that's fine by me) I find with the two small ASW2500's, I have been able to move them around easier, try different positions and see what works best for my room to give good low end near directionless sound throughout the room. So far, my best choice has been opposite corners set out about 24 inches from the wall. When I placed them both up front I got some very big dead spots in the room and as I moved a couple feet front to back it was like riding in and out of Bass. In the corners I have practically no dead spots. No one is really saying it here but sub placement can have a huge affect on your sound, often greater; IMHO than a smallish difference between brand X sub and Brand Z.
The little B&Ws were fairly unique in this companies line of subs. Pretty average vinyl exterior, smallish sealed sub and a big BASH amp. The amp at 700 W continuous and 1100 at peak was the largest amp placed in any B&W sub except for the ASW800 - 855s. This does help it play reasonably loud with a small enclosure and driver. B&W isn't much known for subs and they neither play as deep as some or as loud as some but the 2500 can be placed all over the room and not be noticeable. It also sounds (To me anyway) just great, very musical. It's also interesting they didn't make this thing for long before going to the ASW800 line and cheaping up quite a bit on the 600 series. Thus, not a lot of B&W subs out and about; crappy price points. Frankly Velodyne, the Def Tech, Sunfire and several other small sealed sub manufacturers probably provide(d) a better cost/value than the B&W's. I picked my second one up on auction for a great price and think used it competes with new stuff two to three times more expensive. (Except for a pretty lame exterior).
I do not feed stereo through these at all and use my 803S's at full range for Audyssey as well. I have each surround and other speaker set to different crossover points on my Pre/Receiver at no higher than 80Hz and most, such as my N805's at 60Hz. The 805's can play surprisingly low for a two way and quite loud as well. I'm still playing a bit on crossover points. As set up right now, I get minimal directionality on Bass and am pleased with the result. It's more of a slight directional Bass "feel" than sound. Very subtle...
It's also interesting to note that properly EQ'ing my room with the Audyssey system, it's not like LFE levels are suppose to be so dang high. I think it's possible many big sub lovers have the LFE cranked. I believe even Emotiva admitted they "may have" set the UMC-1 a bit hot to the lows.
I'll be the first to say that if you want brain blasting sound, you can't beat the laws of physics with a small sub or two or three but you can have fun getting sort of close to the biguns....
So, to each his own but a couple or few small powerful and musical subs are enough for me. I give up a little on the very low end but I can integrate the subs a bit better than the big guys.

Bass is all about cone space and xmax. If your running multiple smaller subs your sure as hell can keep up with "big boys" and larger single sub solutions. I ran 4 10" downfiring PSW2500 sealed Kef subs, each with its own 250watt rms amp in a relatively small room. With 4 of those I got plenty of audible fz extension below 15hz and tons of raw output with the gains set very low. 4 10" drivers have more cone space than a single 18". Considering I paid a total of $1k for the 4 of them, they gave me a much bigger bang for the buck in output and are much more musical than any of the large single driver solutions out on the market costing thousands more.

With these 4 subs you were running that you say you got plenty of audible extension down to 15hz - is that below what the subs can do individually? In other words, collectively are they able to go lower than each on their own? If they had such a low extension, why would you replace them with Rhythmik subs? (I'm not questioning your choice, I'd just like to hear the reasons because I am curious).
