My opinion from the sidelines.. Emotiva is a small company that makes very innovative products. They're currently spending valuable time working on fixing the issues with the UMC1.. the firmware update will be sent when its finished. As per Big Dans post, it will be out very shortly. Emotiva, being a small company, doesn't have the resources to constantly update spreadsheets hosted on google docs.. The effort was made to setup a system, which I'm sure emotiva is watching from the "mothership" but realistically they can't reply to each and every person due to the extreme undertaking of daily operations. understood, but: a: Not everybody is involved in actively repairing the firmware. And who said anything about constantly? Firmware is set now, tell us what specific issues have been resolved. and, b: Emotiva was involved, to a certain extent, with the creator of this spreadsheet. And they said comments would be forthcoming. So expecting to see, well, comments is not so over the top. quote from March 1: Hi everyone! I received a note from Lonnie yesterday and he is catching up on other priorities but will begin to edit this list as he and his team work through their UMC punch list. I really want this product, and company, to do well. These posts are meant not to bash them, but to point out where some PR/communication foibles are occurring. Hopefully, at some point, their public perception will improve, but as it stands there is a lot of animosity aimed at them for reasons related to communication deficiencies. Sorry folks, I have sent emails and left messages at the EMO office to no avail and am not sure how to help at this point!

[ Sorry folks, I have sent emails and left messages at the EMO office to no avail and am not sure how to help at this point! SnS, you have gone above and beyond the call of duty and we all appreciate your efforts to make the UMC-1 a great unit. It's not your problem. Thank you for doing the sheet in the first place.

I am sure that EMO is aware of the list but does EMO staff consider some issues bugs? That's why some comments would be extremely helpful.

I just want to jump in here and give a BIG shout out to Sticksandstones for putting together the issue list for us. It has been very helpful in re-write of the code. We have been extremely busy working on this so I apologize for not giving updates. But the code has been extensively re-written to give improved performance is all aspects of the system. If all goes well we plan to release the new code later this week, but that all depends on the beta testers reports and the in house testing to see if it is ready for prime time. Thanks again Sticksandstones and everyone for all their help.

I added V6 as an option for Firmware. I hope Lonnie or Eric can comment on the list so that they can show as addressed in new firmware.
Lonnie, Eric I would be happy to help you update the SS if you want. Just let me know or otherwise will trust your judgments on the matter.
regards,
SnS

I just wanted to thank every one for logging their V6 issues into this system and I noticed that many of the individual threads where we are discussing these issues also take the time to log it in this tool as well.
That is one of our forum powers is to work collectively to try and give honest feedback and assessment.

It looks like a lot of folks will be doing (additional) testing over the weekend so I am hoping that there will be more data available over the next few days.
Can someone clean up the list by the end of next week?

So I upgraded the firmware the first day it was released and after a few days of use I can say I have experinced some issues. I'm sure a few have already been documented but never the less here they are. 1. PS3 audio on the main dashboard keeps losing audio signal. Very annoying with the message box coming up everytime. My old Harmon Kardon had the same issue until its firmware was upgraded. For now I just turned off the key tone noise and the box doesnt come up, obviously because thier isnt any sound Blu-ray and games are fine tho. 2. Going from a stereo tv programing to dolby and vice versa causes issues. Sometimes all channels are stereo other times no audio at all, a few times just the surrounds are on and nothing from the front. A reboot has fixed this everytime. 3. When shutting down the UMC-1 it will run through its power down procedure but the power buttons all stay blue. (umc-1 and amplifers) Hard power reset from the back of the umc has to be done. If I try and power everything back on and off doesnt fix it. This hasnt been often, maybe 3 or 4 times. 4. While watching a recorded show on my Directv Hr-22 audio will drop out after I fast forward or rewind, doesnt happen very often but worth noting. Various fixes have worked from simply rewinding a few sec's or a full reboot is needed. I have also seen a few times where it loses audio signal for a brief moment and comes back on during a show, the info box flashes on and off. To me these issues are not that bad, in-fact nothing really compared to other "very new" products that I have owned. Overall the sq and pq are outstanding and far outwiegh the issues I am having. The firmware loaded exactly as described and I felt like everything loaded properly but Dan says the firmware works perfectly so I'm looking forward to a more refined process that can maybe fix these small issues I'm having, who knows maybe some of the firmware didnt load properly.

That happened to me and in that case, the unit will not power off.

I haven't had any of the power down issues with v6. I did have them with v5, but I never had to use the back switch, holding the "e" button for a few seconds (and or pressing it a couple times) always got it back to a normal state.

I had a "power down but stay blue/amps on" situation last night with the V6 firmware.
Hit the power button once, and it came back on normally, then powered down normally when I hit it again. Weird, but livable.
It has only happened to me once since the upgrade (but I've only powered it up and down probably half a dozen times since then...).

I've had the power down, but not issue a few times. It's easy to get past as I just turn it on and then off again. I haven't upgraded to V6 yet, though.
I don't have Zone 2 set up in any way so I don't see how it could be "powered on".

GKRacer, Bigdeps and everyone, If you go to page one of this thread there is an input form icon that gives an easy form with picklist and such to log your issues or feature requests. There is a second icon that gives you a list of everyone that has logged an entry with a timestamp. We would appreciate your support in logging your information above and thanks for being part of the forum.

When UMC is turned on, Zone-2 always defaults to OFF . If it's turned ON, shouldn't it hold the setting thru power cycle? 3. Can't get any significant volume out of Zone-2. I'm connecting the UMC MIX jack to a 100 watt amp for the outdoor patio. The Zone-2 volume setting as well as the main volume have very little affect on the outside volume. Zone-2 input is set to Sync. 4. Same result when using the UMC Zone output. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here are my thoughts on these issues:
1. When Zone-2 is on, UMC will not go cleanly into standby mode. Is this a bug?
>> I believe this is how it was designed to work. I would rather it go to standby regardless of the power status of zone-2. I'm sure this is something that can be addressed via firmware. So. not a bug but a good request! Unfortunately, zone-2 power is a toggle. If it had discrete ON and OFF codes I could program my universal remote to always issue a zone-2 Power OFF, then UMC-1 power OFF.
2. When UMC is turned on, Zone-2 always defaults to OFF . If it's turned ON, shouldn't it hold the setting thru power cycle?
>> Again, this is how it was designed. Other brands also seem to work this way. My Marantz receiver did the same and I had to power on zone-2 after the unit was powered on.
3. Can't get any significant volume out of Zone-2. I'm connecting the UMC MIX jack to a 100 watt amp for the outdoor patio. The Zone-2 volume setting as well as the main volume have very little affect on the outside volume. Zone-2 input is set to Sync.
>> Not sure about the MIX jack. Maybe someone else can comment?
4. Same result when using the UMC Zone output.
>> There's a setting in one of the menus for zone-2 output level. Make sure that it's not set too low.

My zone 2 output is considerably better than that which was available from my previous pre/pro Rotel RSP-1066. I had run two Audiosource amps bridged with the Rotel in order to get adequate volume for zone 2 (9 sets of speakers with impedence matching volume controls). With the UMC-1, I was able to go back to one Audiosource (75 watts per channel) and the volume fills the house.
