That's wonderful to hear, glad you are up and running....There's nothing like sitting back and starting up the system and listening to the smooth fine sounds of the XMC-1... I feel very lucking owning one, and being in this exclusive club...Just saying. The other Dan

Before my new subwoofer arrived, I was not super-impressed with Dirac/XMC-1. I ran the calibration so many times. But after the subwoofer arrived, I recalibrated and everything CLICKED. It went from - it's good but I can nitpick - to - I REALLY don't feel the urge to re-run the calibration again. The imaging locked in. Everything sounded really good and well-integrated. If I wasn't a logical person, I'd say the Dirac calibration system is buggy and capable of unsatisfactory results when there's no subwoofer.Hmm, I don't have a sub at the moment, wish I did but I have more pressing matters at the moment. You do make an interesting point thou. Djoel

Well Andrew Jones has high praises for this devise too, when I had it in my system for some reason I thought it was limited to my needs, but I was coming from a Denon 4311 Ci that was pretty robust compare to the UMC-200! It's nice to hear folks satisfied with their gear no matter what's new special feature out in the wild, such restrain should be rewarded with a new XMC-1 J/K... Dan

I owned the USP-1 and like you Gary it was my first Emotiva unit, well I purchased XPA-2 and ERC-1 CD along with the preamp and I have to say it was the brightest harsh, ear fatiguing piece of gear I've encounter! It was worst sounding than a Yamaha AVR I had at the time. I am one of those people that you'll be hard press to find a good sounding AVR at any price. Yet the same can not be said when talking about 2 Ch pre pro, I've owned inexpensive 2ch unites that sound amazing. Either way I was not happy with the sound of the USP-1, but after hearing the XSP-1G2 and WOW! This is a guy who love the sound of my ModWright 36.9 a 5K 2Ch Tube Pre Pro.The XPS is simply audio nirvana for sure, and when ever I find myself with extra space, I'm building me a 2Ch system around such of device!

Anyone know what SSP/Pre pro the reviewer owns, uses as his reference as I did not hear him mentioning it.
I feel the XMC-1 sounds a whole lot better than OK/average, or did I read that wrong?

Thumps and static type "LOUD" noises when listening music sacd /dvd-a via Oppo 105D , and watching dvd , and blu ray movies! Which never gets easy to hear.

UMC-200. I may wait to see the successor to this before I make a move. Oops....misunderstood the question. No AVR, just the UMC. Got it, I should have read the first post..My bad..

I've been looking into Class D amps, and would love to keep the electric bill down, and save my back a world of hurt when moving the gear for sure.

Once they get the DSD Pops, thumps and clips fix I'll be in heaven for sure, I think I might be the only one with a remote issue thou. Out of no where it decide not to work. I have a basket full of remotes not in use, as I use a universal type remote. I reached for it it the other day when my universal was too far and noticed nothing seem to be working when pressing. I assumed it was the batteries, so I stepped out to get a fresh pair and again nothing. One thing I thought would see the end of days without dying, well at least I can melt it down and make a sword or something Djoel

Is there a Pole thread on here with what are the issues/none issue with the XMC ? It would speak volumes, as I believe they're more working units with little problem as appose to DOA units.

Just to update everyone. I'm just unlucky (certainly don't get on a plane with me :-). Looks (to me) like a thermal problem with the center channel after being left on in fast-boot standby for a week. Although it looks superficially like the previous problem (both manefested as center channel issues) it really isn't the same thing. First problem was max volume center channel, no test tones. This one is just common-or-garden static (bad capaciter?) on the center channel (problem moves around to whatever speaker I send center channel out to, by whatever method). Just finished a marathon debugging session with Emotiva tech support (Damon). I have to give them great praise for their tech support - they stand firmly behind their products and go the extra mile to make customers happy. We even tried flashing a beta of 3.1, but it really does look (to me) like an electrical component problem. I've asked them to burn-in a unit for a while before replacing. I'm just an unlucky guy. Still wouldn't send the XMC-1 back for cash refund for any reason. There's nothing else sounds this good at a large multiple of this price. I just want a working unit :-). In the meantime I'm running everything as 2-channel until the replacement gets here. I'm not swapping in the other unit for test - I'm too scared to mess with the one working unit I have (hope others will understand the superstition :-). Thanks for all the comments/support. What does FW 3.1 does, or fixes rather ? Djoel

Thanks Diablo for the link, very informative and will definitely dabble in it, and check out all those juicy icons ..But I what's going on with my 650 is not syncing from the harmony website to the remote. So it isn't working at all, is it working on yours? Thanks Dan

I use a Harmony 650 remote and it has all the codes for the xmc-1. These can be had for less than 60.00 Question, a little off topic not an android app question but more a specific Harmony 650 remote question, which I also own and pretty much worth it's weight in gold encrust in diamond. Anyway have you attempted to add the Favorite Channel Logos to be seen on the actual remote tiny lcd? I'm not able to do it, as they're on the Software page but for some reason it does not sync to the remote it self when it claims as something that can be done with this remote. I've search on the Harmony forum, and AVS and nothing. Pardon of getting of the subject. Thanks Dan

We have indeed managed to pretty well eliminate the big thump some people get when a DSD track ends. The fix will be included in the next firmware release. .... which is coming SOON, but I don't have a date yet. Has there been any progress in correcting the DSD thump when using HDMI? Any other goodies the new FW will fix, or add to the XMC? Dan

I just thought of this during my commute the other day, and wanted to ask. Did I have to set the db levels on the dirac preset section, and then run the Dirac? I did do preset 1 prior to running Dirac, and assumed it was set up across the line. Now reading what I just wrote does not make much sense, hmm! One more question, is it a good idea to calibrate preset 2, or leave it as is until I purchase Full Dirac, or those new files will be save else where like in my laptop? Thanks Dan The 3 presets are treated independently; changing one does not change another and using one does not use settings from another. Dirac sets the levels for the Dirac preset to 0.0 after a Dirac run. You can check them afterwards with a SPL and if they are all about the same, ie. within 1-2db of each other it is up to you whether you change them up or down to match your chosen levels test (65,75,85db). Some people change them, others don't. I didn't change mine and I'm happy. If they differ by much more than a couple of db (excluding the sub) I'd be inclined to re-run Dirac rather than alter the levels. You could set up preset 2 if you wanted. It depends if you are going to use it for any input. If you are not, then I'd leave it at the default settings. Thank you for the great explanation...I did change the db afterwords don't recall how much of a difference it was but will do another re run of the Dirac sooner or later. Cheers Dan
