Can someone please get these measurements from the URE-4 brackets for me?? A should be 7", B and C are most important. (I'm assuming measurement C is the same top and bottom as it should be...)

srhamlin,
Here are my measurements:
A= 7.00 B= 4.50 C= 1.25
A is actually probably closer to 6.93 which makes sense so things aren't jammed together.
Based upon what I believe are the EIA standards (and the way the rack rails on my Middle Atlantic rack are spaced), B should be 5.25 or 4.0 to line up properly in a 4U rack space. For some reason, Emotiva has never responded to this claim or addressed this issue further.

Thanks Clyde, another member got back to me on this same question (also posted in the amplifier section in another thread about these rack ears not fitting). You are correct, B should be 4" and C should be 1.5". The distance between rack mount holes per RU is 1.25", but each RU is spaced by .5", so the mounting holes would have to be drilled at 1.5" (measurement C) to align properly with the next component in the rack. if they are drilled at 1.25" then this would leave a .25" gap between the Emotiva amp and the components above and below it.... which is exactly what people are reporting. I also e-mailed someone about this last week but never received a reply.

I was hoping it would be a True 4U configuration where I could un-bolt the feet and then install perforated 1U blanking plates above/below for airflow. Or, if they had intended this to be this way I wish they would have built perforated airflow blanking areas above/below the unit. I wonder if they didn't just accidentally use a rack of their own as a reference, and the gear is spaced 1/2U off.

I can't get the 4.5" hole spacing to fit anywhere on my rack no matter how far or close it is to other equipment. Did I just get a bad batch?

robfive - you did not get a bad batch. The simple answer is that the hole spacing on the Emotiva rack ears was not designed to match the spacing between any two of the pre-threaded holes on an EIA standard rack irrespective of where you attempt to place the ear (exactly as you have found). The Emotiva rack ears will only work on racks that have adjustable mounting points - ie do not have the fixed threaded hole spacing of a standard EIA rack.
However, there are a set of two holes on an EIA standard rack that come "close" to fitting within about an eighth of an inch on either side. Since the Emotiva rack ears are made of aluminum and are therefore very easy to machine, I simply used a round metal file to slightly widen the holes on the rack ear thus allowing them to fit.

Amazing. I had read all about the 1/2 spacing isues for ventalation reasons but in all my searching I could not find a post that addressed what you mentioned. Thanks a ton for your explanation. As you described I have found the 4.625" hole spacing on the rack that comes the closest to the 4.5" of the rack ears. I do have proper equipment to make the modification you described but since this XPA-5 is the deepest and heaviest item in my rack I will probably just leave it at the bottom. Thanks again for your response!

Is there any info on when the Rack ears are coming out for the XPR-5?
