I use Roku/netflix & although HD is not as good as BD, but it's quite watchable ( HD in 720P) . Two complaints that I have is audio is in stereo & there is no good way to find a movie in the roku interface

I have the Roku player set up for my wife, and she absolutely loves it.
The picture quality is ok, to very good (720p). I have the same complaint though about only stereo out.
There is talk of a 1080p upgrade, but I would much rather see a 5.1 dolby out.
Currently using it wirelessly with no issues.
You may want to put your money toward a PS3 or Xbox, both will play Netflix Streaming movies. Also, they give you the ability to add movies to your que.
Also, several of the new TV's comming out have built in Netflix streaming capabilities.

I use netflix to rent blu-rays and have a roku too. Roku is good enough to fill in occasionally and great for finding old tv shows or movies to enjoy with the kids. It won't come close to blu ray for serious watching, but its close to broadcast quality for most shows I've watched. 720p and 2channel audio max I believe as was pointed out above. Overall great bonus to a netflix account.
