Hi, has anyone had a chance to listen to the ultra 10.Really in the market for a good inexpensive sub.Currently. have the ENERGY ES8.I'm in a very small room 11 by 11. I own the emotiva 6.2's.Also 95 % sure i want to buy 2 upa ones.Currently have the upa 2. Just need some feedback on what people are saying about that new Sub.Also hopeing that the upa 1 's make a big difference from the upa 2.

I've had mine for a week now, in a 13'x16'x8.25' room. I use it for 99% music. I've played around quite a bit with placement, output, phase, etc and have finally settled on next to my right front speaker (between it and the equipment stand). It sounds great. I plan on adding a second later, in a mirror-image position on the left side.
My room needs some treatments, so I had to find a balance of good sound from a few different listening positions. Low pass crossover is at 80hz via my MMC-1.
The bass is tight and punchy and it has no trouble keeping up with busy passages (like double kick-drum/bass/percussion crescendoes at the end of songs) at high volume. It blends extremely well with the speakers and it was easy to get it to do so. Output (bass) is only a little more than my front speakers alone, but deeper and punchier and tighter. Quality over quantity. I haven't done any measurements yet, don't have the equipment, so all adjustments have been by ear. It sounds really good and will no doubt get better once I get the gear and software to fine tune all the calibration settings and do some room treatments.
The unit is solid and well built and the driver looks to be of good quality. But don't expect earth shaking bass, not from any small 10" sub. I wouldn't call this (or any similar sub) a movie sub, at least for major-action-flick-bass-heads. But I can certainly feel the bass in my music. Very much so. Kick drums have kick and all bass guitar lines are tight and articulate and the different notes are clear and precise.
I'm going to pick up an SPL meter and run some test tones this weekend, see if I can come up with a rudimentary FR graph. I won't be able to do much to correct any peaks or dips yet, but at least I'll have an idea of what's going on.

Hi Shaun, Thanks for the info.I would think that the Ultra 10 would be good for music in a small room.10 is bigger than 8 in my case.Im like you, just want a good musical tight sub.I just want good 2.1 music, and could care less about HT.

My experience and opinion with the Ultra 12 is similar to Crazy4Blues experience with the Ultra 10. The attached measurements were taken in a 15'x19'x8' room with a 15+ year old Radio Shack SPL meter. The room is not treated and is carpeted with "normal" living room furniture (couch, love-seat, etc.). The room is also open to two other rooms and a hallway. I did these measurements when I first got the Ultra 12 and settings were not optimized (read tweaked). I have since moved the Ultra 12 into a different room (basement media room, "L-shaped", not treated, but I am free to arrange equipment however I like because this is my space). I have not taken measurements in the other room yet. The Ultra is located between the left front speaker and the TV in a 5.1 setup. My listening habits are about 50/50 music/movies. I am quite satisfied with the Ultra 12 and intend to add another one. I know this posting is a little off topic because the thread was about the Ultra 10. Sorry, just throwing in my 2 cents.

Thanks for the info on the ULTRA 12. The room is just to small for the 12.My sub is set up in the same position as yours.I added room treatment a while back.Am very pleased with the way it sounds now, but still feel that i'm two moves away from being in that sound zone.

Hi Mike , if you have time, can you let me know how you like it ?Thinking about getting the upa mono blocks as well. This is for an office setup... Office #1: DAC: HRT MS DAC Pre: USP-1 Amp: UPA-2 CD: ERC-1 Speakers: TCA WAF-1 Ninja Elite + No-rez modification Sub: Emotiva Ultra 10 So, as is, the UPA-2 is overkill for my nearfield listening.
