Now I have the SMS-1 I can see my current sub takes a dive below 25hz. Has anyone tested the Ultra12?
I also have a significant dip at about 63hz. I tried both locations where I like the sub to be and had close to the same results. I then moved the sub closer to the listening position on the side wall and that did fix the problem. The only problem is when I played some music I did not like to hear the sub so close. I moved it back and adjusted the SMS-1 as much as I could to reduce the dip.
I look forward to hearing from anyone about the Ultra12.
Dave.

Whether it is the Ultra 12 or not, given your room acoustics, it looks like you are a candidate to add an additional sub to help smooth out the anomalies.

Here's some measurements from my setup with dual Ultra 12s. I'm quite satisfied with the subs performance and sound. Measurements were taken with a Radio Shack SPL meter, with on the fronts and subs playing. Test tones were from a Stereophile Test Cd. I know this is somewhat crude, but it works for me. ;D

Measuring for an 85dB target is too low for a subwoofer, unless all you're trying to get out are numbers for THD+N, but any 12" should be able to do 85 dB down to 20 Hz without a problem. Targeting 100 dB is far more useful, even if that's louder than you are planning to listen at, since you will see far more separation in performance between subs than you would at 85 dB.

Now that these subs have been available for a while, and most of the early adopters have received theirs and have had the opportunity to test these.....do we have any results? I am curious because when I first received mine, I was initially underwhelmed. Then a friend came over and assisted me in setting them up properly and now I don't know how I lived without them!!! So...has anybody done any official testing and measuring on these subs yet?

I have a dual u12 setup. They sound awesome. Smooth, no anomalies or drop offs. Fills the room. I have an eq/db chart at home that I took with my spl meter couple months back. I don't have it handy here at work, though the results were very good. Frequency to frequency there were only minor db changes.
