So I pulled the trigger on two Ultra 12's. ;D I gotta Big Ass Room to fill with bass. Current config is an Onkyo TX-SV727. 5.1 Puts out 85 watts L/C/R @ 8 ohms and 25 watts for surrounds. Speakers are Paradigm MKs7 6 ohms. Barely enough power from the receiver. No headroom. No equalization as of yet. Ditching the following sub; JBL 10" 100 watt, buried behind the display in the corner to get as much boom as possible. (muddy and useless) For those with two Ultra's, any tips or guidance? Initially thinking of one 12 in the current media corner and the other in-between the two couches where I have the floor outlet. I'll move Sub #2 around quite a bit to experiment.

Stacking them in a corner is probably going to get you the most output for a room that size. It may not get you the smoothest response though. You may want to check into some EQ options.

You have a tough layout there. I think a sub between the two couches would be too close. I would second the stacked in the corner reply. Maybe turn one toward each side of the monitor.
You are going to have a ton of bass compared to that 10" JBL though.

I would consider rotating the room setup similar to this:

Agreed. I would totally rearrange your room and get your TV out of that corner. Either what DYohn suggested or on the 21 ft wall and swap seating with the pool table.

Hadn't considered stacking yet. Will definitely give that a try.
Sully, share your layout. May be able to use something.
Dyohn, thanks for the recommendation. Gotta keep the tv in the corner. When I built the room I omitted all windows along that back wall to kill reflections. Plus, the home runs for all the surrounds and cat5 go back to the media corner. Also have a dedicated electrical circuit back there. A wet bar is planned where the safe currently resides and plumbing has been stubbed off under the house.
I'm gonna have to work the subs around the current layout.
Don't think one Ultra 12 with gains turned down slightly would work between the couches? Hmmmm......
Can't wait till they get here.

I think I posted mine some where else on here but here it is. I am away on business and won't get home until Friday so my two Ultra Sub 12's are waiting for me in the garage. My wife e-mailed me asking if I had accidentally ordered two ;D I said because of the size and price I went with two. She said, won't two be too loud in our little livingroom. I assured her that with the open layout with about 8700cubic feet two subs will be just perfect

I think that given your huge room and the relatively small size of the subs, you could easily put them in multiple locations. I think that you should put a sub on the couch in the listening position and crawl around the room to find the best bass response. Once you find that spot, move the sub to that location. Put the other sub in your other listening position on the couch and do the same thing. Put that sub in the spot where you get the best bass response from using the crawl method. You can go from there with calibration and possible eQ. Room treatements are fairly priced as well and can actually look nice if you were interested and can help control your large area from sound bouncing all over the place. Good luck. www.audioholics.com/tweaks/speaker-setup-guidelines/crawling-for-bass-subwoofer-placementwww.axiomaudio.com/tips_subwoofer_placement.html

I bought two for a room 12wx17lx9h. I am loving the accuracy and ability to dial them back for accurate 2 channel listening and/or let them loose for movies and listening to Primus (HA!).
I have them stacked and not corner loaded and cannot believe the output. The overall room response is not ideal, but several seats sound correct and I have a few more ideas to test to help the other two. These subs are really impressive. I hope you really enjoy them.

Uh... any chance you could set up your home theater in a smaller room than 35,000 cubic feet? What - do you live in a movie theater??? ;D If not, to truly get room-filling bass I suspect you'd need several tapped horn beasts distributed around the space. Check out Danley. www.danleysoundlabs.com/tapped_horn.asp?MODEL=DTS%2020

Nice space (is that a A-H Sprite I see?) But man, a warehouse like that is going to be very difficult to make sound like anything other than a, well, a warehouse without some significant sound treatments.
