I've been out of the forums for a while, and may of very well missed it.... But what happened to the subs with auto room correction and all that? I don't see any threads about it and didn't hear anything in the pod casts. Are they completely scrapped? Or is the Ultra series subs just a lower end sub?

The sub woofer you are thinking about is the ERS series. Earlier this year, Big Dan posted in the Lounge that he had put the ERS subs back into "the pipeline" to be manufactuered. There was no mention made as to when it would be ready for release to the public. At the time he made his post I "guessed" that we would be seeing it during the 3rd or 4th quarter. Emotiva has not released any further information on this sub. I have no idea how accurate my guess for release is, but with the continuing FW problems on the UMC-1 and all the other new products that have been announced, I am now less certain if they will make it before year-end. I did E-mail Big Dan recently and he confirmed that the ERS subs are in the product schedule and are actively being developed. He did not provide an ETA so it is anybody's guess as to when they will be available.

Well I've been looking forward to them and a friend of mine moved into a new house and is listening space is smaller so he was looking for a sub with room correction. Hope we see them soon though.

one of the things touched on by audioholics was whatever happened to these. it seems as if these guys had talked with some of the emo guys about them. the upshot is that emo kind of backed themselves into a difficult corner with these when they announced the subs and then commenced work on the UMC. it makes sense that there was a lot of overlap between these two products, what with emo-Q being built into the UMC (which was originally being developed for the subs i believe). in essence, they really didn't want to be competing against themselves.

I talked to Lonnie today about the ERS subs and he told me that the delay in their release is caused by Lonnie re-writing the GUI operating system to make it more user friendly. He said that after all the complaints on using the UMC-1's EmoQ feature that he better make the PEQ function of the subs as idiot proof as possible. He felt that the experienced user would not have had any problems with the previous version of the GUI, but was concerned that users unfamiliar with Parametric Equalization would have trouble using that function, so he started over again to design the GUI to make it easy for anyone to use.
Needless to say, with all the other projects that Lonnie has on his plate, particularly the UMC, he has not had the time needed to complete the new GUI software. He said that it definitely is an active product development and will be released late this year or early next year... depending on freeing up the time to work on it.

Hmmm, maybe they could do a "beta release" to those of us happy to fiddle and we could then help with the UI design?
i.e. if the hardware and back-end code is already done and it is just a UI tweak left, let us have them and help test/improve like we have done with the UMC - but this time as a closed beta where you sing up and sign an NDA?
