I must have missed the joke. Is that a yes or a no? There seems to be a group of folks in the online world that believe there's some sort of major conspiracy going on here. Emotiva, like the rest of the world, has manufacturers build products for them. This conspiracy group believes this is evil, only on Emotiva's part, though, it's ok for everyone else. So, they have 'called out' Emotiva, and 'proven' that Emotiva is using 3rd-party manufacturing companies, just like Emotiva has said they've been doing all along. Having exposed the truth that Emotiva admits to, the folks at Emotiva have no choice but to 'own up' and admit to the truth they have already publicly disclosed. Now, the truth is out. Emotiva can no longer cover up the truth that they haven't been trying to cover up. Everyone knows, despite Emotiva's best efforts to make it clear in the first place. There you have it. Lonnie admits to all the truths he and Dan have been admitting to all along. The conspiracy is finally uncovered, unveiled for the world to see. You crack me up Bill ;D I love it.

After doing some serious research into Tonewinner I now understand the company and their relationship with Dan. Tonewinner is a cover that has nothing to do with electronics, nothing at all. It is instead an Asian porn company and Dan is their John Holmes. I know Emo never wanted this information released but it is now out there. On a side note, it seems Lonnie has a full series of his own called Sam Humper, Private Dick

Emotiva rebadges a Tonewinner product and sells it at a very modest price and works via their timetable. The value is apparent (with emotiva products), but owners want it to work correctly and the fixes for the unit are out of Emotiva's control. This is just an alternative theory cooked up by myself and may be completely false.

I thought the UMC-1 was built by "tanwinner"...what with the new mobile lounge and all, I am sure that Big Dan has a fine tan. Didn't they recently reveal they were vacationing in Florida?
Joking aside...it does not matter to me who manufactures any products. Dan and Lonnie have been pretty clear over time how the products they sell come about, so there's no conspiracy hiding. (At least nothing like back in the day when it became public that one buying an Olds might be getting a Chevy engine...oh horror of horrors!)

I read "yes". (just like Bill did) Is there anything else you need to know? Well I am not so sure about that. Is that one of those yes answers that really means yes or does it mean no or does it mean yes it is no or no it is yes or exactly just what does it mean? I think we have another instance of Emotiva not being straight with us and giving us the runaround. Lonnie should clarify, just what exactly does "yes" mean. <<Channeling Frank Caliendo, channeling one of the great existentialists of our times>> "It depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is."Hmmm.... I think we should ask Lonnie to expound on that.

It might be that Emo is making some of these issues "dark thing" by feeding into it as well. Please expand on this thought, I would like to know. From where I am it looks like we are more open about just about anyone else, yet it is never enough. The crazy demands that we must prove this or that or we must be hiding something. Yet very few seem to notice that no other company would even offer a response and when someone does bring up the obvious, they are tagged as a fan boy and told to get lost. So the only people who are allowed to reply are those feeding to the fire. So I give a reasonable reply and then it is picked a part by everyone who knows just enough to be dangerous. Then the demands increase that I must be hiding something or else I would drop everything and spend hours in the lab taring down what I am working on just so I can set up whatever they are demanding and run AP reports. When I don't do it, then I get all kinds of grief because I am not replying when the reality is I am actually working on something important. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Obviously this is just a joke, before anyone freaks out ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D On a serious note though, please drop me a PM and let me know. So Lonnie, just exactly what is your ulterior motive and hidden agenda from your post? ;D I am busy trying various combinations of the first letters of the words you used to see if there is a secret message in there somewhere..

Just a comment on Lonnie's withdrawn post.....I guess I've been spoiled by Lexicon and Audyssey who are both very active in their forums and supportive of questions and comments. Of course there are other companies that don't even have forums that they participate in.
BTW....I bet you would have saved 50 or more posts and much user angst and frustration if you had just said, somewhere along the way, that you are working on the manual and you've already rewritten 30+ pages.

BTW....I bet you would have saved 50 or more posts and much user angst and frustration if you had just said, somewhere along the way, that you are working on the manual and you've already rewritten 30+ pages. I did make such an announcement some time back. What that generated was pages of "Where is it?", "Why isn't this done?", "This should have already been done.", "This should be put up in stages for everyone to read page by page.", "This should be put on the forum as living document for EVERYONE to edit and review.". So forth and so on. Sound familiar to anyone? We are working on it, but this is a very complicated piece that goes far beyond the processors we have done in the past. The feature sets and versatility are on a magnatude far great than previously done. So the manual is actually very difficult to do, but it is being done and we will get it out as soon as we can.

Lonnie, Once again no disrespect but as much as you are tired of people asking where the manual is I would think UMC-1 owners are also tired of owning as you say a complicated piece without an in depth up to date manual. So when it is said a manual is forthcoming that has been said before for quite sometime. Although I do not currently own the UMC-1 I am interested in the XMC-1 and the XDA-1. So before I get the "why do you post here" or why do you even care" it is because I feel if this is the progression of the UMC-1 then could it also be the same for the XMC-1 and the XDA-1? I have no doubt that the manual is very complicated and difficult to write. Has Emotiva considered having an outside company well versed in writing technical manuals write the manual for Emotiva? It appears that Emotiva has a small staff so maybe having an outside company handle the manual would be very helpful and speed up the process. Bill

I, like you, am mostly interested in the XDA and XMC. Thinking long range with my system goals, these two elements are absolutely crucial. When the UMC was released I had no idea it was in such a beta phase. I understand why no manual has been created (now) because many of the firmware changes have probably changed the directions. Having a "fluid document" would only compound the confusion and create (more) chaos. That said, I am not one who looks at the UMC's trajectory and automatically thinks the XMC will duplicate it. I hope the lessons learned with the UMC's launch and firmware issues will allow the XMC to have a much smoother take off... so we don't get everybody whining about every single little functionality issue whether its substantive or not. I do wonder how a manual would have (possibly) prevented a lot of the b&m'ing that went on with the UMC, just from people not understanding how to use it... obviously a lot of time has been put into perfecting it, and a lot of time has gone into explaining things like EmoQ and bass management... could that time have been better spent perfecting the handshake issues and working on new product development? I guess we may never know, but it appears that way to me.
