I just purchased a panasonic 50" 3d tv and was wondering what preamp to use for the processing. I currently have a denon 3808 but it does not have 3d pass through and i need to upgrade to something with 1.4 hdmi. I do not believe the umc-1 will be able to do it either so if anyone has any ideas please let me know thanks

Almost all major receiver brands have receivers that are 3D compatible. Look for HDMI 1.4a. That is what you need. From my understanding all receivers that support 3D are really just doing a pass through on the video as 3D video cannot be processed with the current technology. Hope this helps.

...Or just get the Panasonic DMP-BDT300 Blu-ray player with two HDMI outputs (one for the 3D high res picture going directly to your TV, and the other one strictly for the high res Audio going directly to your pre/pro or receiver). * You can even use the Mutichannel analog output of the Panny also for the high res Audio. ~ So you got two options available with that Panny BD player. >>> And furthermore, you can do the exact same with the Oppo BDP-93 Universal Blu-ray player (also has two HDMI outputs, and Multichannel analog out).

Crap... I just got a 63" Samsung 3d Plasma, and was wondering if the UMC was going to pass the 3D image if I had it set to pass through, no video processing... So now I'm back to HDMI straight to the TV, and an optical audio cable for Audio.... so much for the HD audio

Will the eventual HDMI 1.4 upgrade for the UMC-1 allow for 3D pass thru or are emotiva still avoiding 3D? Will 3D be included with the XMC-1?
Cheers

I believe the update idea was scrapped and will no longer happen, call Emo to confirm. And yes the XMC-1 will have HDMI 1.4a with 3D pass through.
