Thanks for the suggestion monkumonku, that looks like it could work, but I wonder about the depth. The XPA-3 is 19" deep. Yours must be on the edge right? I like the fact you can build to suit ones needs, and has some rear backing to hide the wires.

I like the fact you can build to suit ones needs, and has some rear backing to hide the wires. I am using the HF series rack and I added some shelves and also replaced some of the legs that come with the standard rack with 11" ones. The body of the XPA amps fit within the shelf depth-wise but the terminals stick out in the back. Since it is an open design that doesn't bother me. I can see how these amps would be problematic in a closed cabinet, though. Oh also - I don't use the rear backing on mine. I have so many wires going all over the place that it would just get in the way. ;D The backing is just cardboard so it doesn't add anything structurally. The rack itself is pretty sturdy. Good luck in finding something!

URE4 is the model for the amp rack ears and I received them yesterday and installed them today. They are not listed on the web site but can be had by calling customer service. They use the three screw holes on each side of the amp. The ears are pretty substantial and yes they do fit a standard rack. I am pleased. It was hard getting the amp into the rack and putting the screws in. I had to have help. The amp is very heavy. So, could you put another rackmount item directly above the Emo, and they would line up flush (no space between them)? I believe that was the issue with the original ears, and want to be sure that was fixed before ordering... OP can you confirm this? About to order and want to make sure these don't leave gaps between components. Thanks!

So, I am new to the forum, but I just received the URE-4 and and URS-2 last week to rackmount my UPA-7 and UMC-1. The ears still don't line up with the standard spacing. I have ~3/4" gap between my processor and amp.

Emotiva needs to stop selling these if they don't even line up on a standard EIA rack. I don't understand why they haven't been redone yet??? My MPS-1 fits perfect with its rack ears, so what has happened?

I was wondering if they made it that way to be sure to leave the 3/4 gap below their components the attached feet provide, the manual states not to remove them to allow airspace for cooling, so maybe they are doing it on purpose to prevent people from racking them right on top of each other and leaving no airspace. I'd have no problem spacing them myself with a 1RU blank panel but can't even do that if they automatically have a non-standard 3/4" gap...... having a 3/4 gap not only screws it up aesthetically but ruins my rack ventilation setup...

I'm very interested in this, too. I'm about to rack everything into an Middle Atlantic rack - and for the amp I'd prefer to use the rack ears as well. But want to make sure they line up, have the same brushed finish, and don't leave gaps above/below, which the Middle Atlantic custom RSH plates all deal with...
And on that topic, performanceaudio.com has really good prices on the MA custom rackshelves ... Haven't ordered mine yet, but price+free shipping is a great deal there...

I did leave the feet on both the amp and processor being that I was forced to have a gap anyway. The gap is on the top and bottom. I tried to take a picture showing the gaps but I'm not sure if it is clear. There is a small tic mark on the rack between the amp and processor where the components should start/stop. The power center above the processor is on a shelf right now (rack ears are on the way), but the shelf is lined up properly with the next available rack unit above the processor.

Looks like this company makes good stuffs....could have bought from them instead of buying BDI TV stands.
Thanks for the information.

Great info Wiscoudi, thank you. Very unfortunate that these do not line up properly, seems as if they have improperly drilled the holes in the ears for the correct spacing alignment. I too would much prefer this to the MA rack, but seems I have no choice, I can't have gaps.

Frustrating that the rack ears aren't designed properly - was hoping to save some money over a MA custom shelf...
Speaking of the custom shelves, I notice that MA doesn't have a specific shelf for the UPA-5, but does for the UPA-7. The dimensions on the Emotiva page are the same for these amps - do they use the same casing?

Can someone please get these measurements from the URE-4 brackets for me?? A should be 7", B and C are most important. (I'm assuming measurement C is the same top and bottom as it should be...)

I am out of town this weekend, but from memory, A is 7", B is 4.5" and C is 1.25". I will measure and post next week.

^^ Great, thanks again. But if you're right on that C measurement then I don't see how Emotiva can possibly say they fit. The distance between rack mount holes per RU is 1.25", but each RU is spaced by .5", so the mounting holes would have to be drilled at 1.5" to align properly with the next component in the rack. if they are drilled at 1.25" then this would leave a .25" gap between the Emotiva amp and the components above and below it.... which is exactly what people are reporting.

Someone from Emotiva needs to review and respond to this thread. This isn't a hard fix and should have been taken care of by now. Very dissapointed at this

^ Couldn't agree more, I really want to purchase them, but ones that have the mounting holes drilled correctly. I e-mailed them to purchase the ears and got a response quickly to call and order, but when I mentioned the fitment issues people had and if they had been corrected I received no reply back. Maybe it's not worth it to them to manufacture another batch, which is understandable if they didn't end up selling that many to begin with, but to continue to sell the current ones is not the right thing to do.

I emailed about the alignment issue also and they don't acknowledge that it is an issue that the ears don't follow standard hole spacing.

Well, if they can't seem to fix the problem. I have no problem selling my emotiva gear and going elsewhere, I mean come on its not a hard fix? ?

I raised the issue as soon as I received them back in April and all they ever told me was to return them if I wasn't happy. I never did because it was more trouble than it was worth and figure I can do something else with them. I would buy another set for my gear as soon as they offer them with the correct hole spacing. I think the fact that they won't admit the mistake is more annoying to me now than the problem itself. But hey, I've never had any problems with my UMC-1.
