Good afternoon,
This is my first posting and I am looking for some clarification regarding using Emotiva amps with Axiom speakers.
Currently I have a Denon 4810 and I was looking at adding the XPA-3 or even the XPA-5 to power my front three speakers. I would use the XPA-5 to drive the rears in addition to the front three. My speakers are the 4-ohm M80's for fronts and the 4 ohm VP-180 as the center.
Over on the Axiom boards, I have heard several people "complain" that these two amps will not play nice with these Axiom speakers.
Can anybody help me out with this or lead to another thread that talks about this? My goal is to purchase an amp this week sometime, so I am curious for the feedback.
Thanks in advance.. Jeff

Jeff,
This topic has come up several times on this board. Probably the best advice I can give you is to call or -email Lonnie Vaughn, Emotiva's Chief Technology Officer. Lonnie has thoroughly investigated every aspect of this problem and can tell you exactly what is happening and why it happens. Quick and dirty, this problem has occurred a few times with the XPA-2 when the "right combination of circumstances" exist, but it is a rare problem. I don't remember reading any threads where the XPA-3 or XPA-5 ever had issues with the Axiom 80, but if there was Lonnie would know.
The whole issue has been exaggerated far beyond the scope of what has actually taken place. Check with Lonnie and make a decision after you have questioned him about any concerns you may have. Good luck.
