I checked the troubleshooting thread and have tried switching out cables and speakers, reseting the amp, power cycling, etc. My issue is with an XPA-5. I noticed last night that my right rear surround channel wasn't doing anything. I went into the setup of my receiver to check levels and sure enough I got no tone when I selected that speaker. I removed the speaker banana plugs from the amp and plugged them back into my receiver and I got sound again. There is a very faint sound coming from the speaker when utilizing the amp and if you wiggle the interconnect for that channel around you can hear the speaker fading in and out. Is it safe to assume I have a bad channel in the amp? It's not going into protect mode either.

It works fine routed directly through the receiver.

Well, I would agree if I hadn't already tried plugging the speaker directly into my receiver using the same banana plugs and cabling. It works fine routed directly through the receiver. Could be a bad pre-out on the Receiver. Could be a bad RCA cable. Might try moving a different channel's RCA over the "bad" channel and see if it is still dead.

Yeah, you definitively got a lose RCA jack there. * Remove the top cover of your XPA-5 and inspect the RCA jack connector from the culprit channel. Then see if you can perform yourself the soldering. If not, send it to Emo (not the RCA jack, but the entire XPA-5).

There are a number of things that might be causing the problem you have described. I would call Emotiva in the morning and have them walk you thru isolating the exact cause of your issue. They are very good at helping find the root issue. If it turns out to be the Emotiva amp, they will rush a replacement to you and issue a call tag from FEDeX to return the defect. Hopefully, it will be something simple, like a bad cable. Either way, Emotiva will take care of you. Based on past history, about 95% of all initial problems are cablle related. Good luck.
