So...what's the official answer on the status of the specs ("Secondary capacitance: 90,000uF")? Are they correct or in error and, if the latter, will they be updated? And, more importantly, will I be given a $200 credit for the mental anguish this has caused me? ;D (I was going to post this follow-up in the original thread, but it has been locked.)

You know its bad when even I have to question what exactly is gained by making sure Emo has promptly changed a secondary capacitance spec on their page. If you bought an amp based on secondary capacitance, then you bought an amp for the wrong reason.............

You know its bad when even I have to question what exactly is gained by making sure Emo has promptly changed a secondary capacitance spec on their page. In another thread, someone claimed the UPA-5's specs were incorrect. This caught my interest. In that same thread, Lonnie wrote "I will absolutely follow up on this Monday and get to the bottom of it." It's now Tuesday, there's no word yet from him* and the specs on the UPA-5 product page haven't changed. (*I have no doubt that Lonnie is very busy, which is why I tried to phrase my initial post in this thread as a simple question. If it came across as impatient or demanding, my apologies to Lonnie.) Although nothing in my life will change if it turns out that the secondary capacitance is actually 60,000uF instead of 90,000uF, I'm just curious for an update on Lonnie's bit of research into this matter. Call it "looking for closure".

I have been dealing with Emotiva for almost a year now and in all my years I have dealt with very few companies as caring and honest as Emotiva. If Lonnie said he will find out what’s going on he will, give him a break if you are not happy with the product send it back.

If Lonnie said he will find out what’s going on he will, give him a break if you are not happy with the product send it back. Huh? Not only am I not pressuring anyone - all I did was ask a polite follow-up question - but I'm very happy with my amp. The comment about a $200 credit was a joke, a reference to the numerous requests I've seen from people asking for some kind of freebie/credit/gift/discount from Emotiva. I even put two emoticons next to it, just to highlight the fact that it was a joke. Guess I'll have to put more of 'em there next time.

I am sure that Lonnie will check the specs on the UPA-5 and make any modifications to the web site, if they are necessary. He is only human like the rest of us and it could have either been a typo, or just one of those moments where you are thinking one thing while typing another and a mixture of both thoughts comes out on screen...or is that just me? ;D Or perhaps, there is no error at all.

We checked the spec and the units and they have what was spec-ed but the page was wrong, so we corrected it. Sorry for any confusion here.

It seemed to me to be nothing more than who ever was making up the Add page had thought that the power board was the same as used in the UPA-7, they turned out to be 10k 63v instead of 15k 63v.

Does this in any way affect the performance of this amplifier??? No. The amplifier performs the same way it always has regardless of what specs might or might not be correctly listed on the web site.

Does this in any way affect the performance of this amplifier??? It will sound the same today after the typo was fixed as it sounded before they discovered the typo. ;D

Either way, it's still a great amp.

I still don't know why they call it secondary capacitance. Isn't it just normal filter caps in the power supply?

Michael, You are correct, the caps in question are primary, secondary caps would be those related to the current draw point Q13,&14 andQ16&17 on the upa 5 board .
