Sorry about the political talk. Won`t do it again. At least you apologized. And please don't. I agree, we can debate the rest of our lives and it won't change a thing, so let's don't.

OK, I screwed it all up. Never had any update issues before, so didn't read th instructions. I loaded the UMC-1_v7_02_05_20101116 first, got a message on the front panel that there was a DSP mismatch, so tried loading that. To make a long story short, where I am right now is that no matter what I try, every time I try to load the DSP1FLASH the unit powers off on on a couple of times, under command of the installer, but won't respond to the "reset" that the installer sends, and the install fails. HELP!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Rick

HELP!!!!!!!! Thanks, Rick Reload the old UMC-1xxx code, then load the new DSP, then the new UMC-1 code. Although, simply loading the DSP code at this point should work. I have done it in every conceivable order with all sorts of timeouts. Reboot, disconnect USB cables, etc., Try various things to get it to take. See Emonatics for more info.

Join the club with the update issues. Mine died and wouldn't turn on or be recognized by the USB driver. I had to send it back to Emo to have it fixed.

I just looked at page 1 of this thread begun Nov 20/10 so this beta has been out there for nearly 2 months - they must be having some real issues working out the fixes.

Well, considering that all UMC-1's that are shipping now have the 05 FW, one could say that they are happy with what they are offering. That's different than having some real issues working out the fixes. So, call it Beta, call it Bob, I call it "in production".

HELP!!!!!!!! Thanks, Rick On the risk of sounding naive.... I tried the update a week after I received my UMC, and had the same issue. I found out that a new loader version was required to do the install correctly. IIRC it is version 3.6? I could be wrong. I didn't see that mentioned when I received the firmware, only found out about by searching the forums and coming upon a post that mentioned it. Once I had the correct EMO loader, everything went smoothly first time through. OK - now if I was stating the "obvious" I apologize. I'm no dope, so I figure it could happen to someone else not intimately familiar with all the ins-and-outs of the Emo sites etc..

As an aside - it seems the delay before start for music files (2.0 PCM) is due to having PLIIx (and maybe other options) set. Setting stereo, track play within 1 to 4 seconds versus 7+.
I have notified Emotiva.
Additionally, I ran Emo-Q after EQing my sub with the MiniDSP and the EQ results were much better, level was -4.5 (versus -10) and the tweaks for the range I had eqed were only 1db and the ones for the rest of the range 2 to 5 which is more like it. So it may well be it is trying to do its job properly, it just does not have the range/scope (i.e. is not a PEQ) to succeed well without help.

I read through this thread, but I'm still unsure on this point: Do you need to use the updated (F340_v1_04_20101023) front panel code with the 7.02.05 firmware and 1.03.07 DSP load? So far I left the F340_v10203_2 set on there and just updated the DSP and UMC load. It powers up and does basic controls just fine, but I can't really test it because I still haven't set up my HT yet--I've just had to move, and I'm waiting on new speaker, raceway and paint to come in. Yay. I love paying the WAF tax Thanks, Josh

No, you don't need to update the front panel code; the FPC update addresses the shutdown issue, but also renders the plastic remote useless.
I have done all the updates, but not the FPC, and won't until I get my lazy butt up to program my URC with the codes for the metal remote (in the mean time I suffer the rare shutdown issue).

Forgive me for not reading through all 28 pages of this thread. I used the search but didn't get the answer I was looking for. My UMC-1 came loaded with Version 7.2.00.05. Is this a beta version and a final .05 (or maybe even a different number) will be coming soon?
Or is the update people talk about waiting for the same .05 I already have?

On the Emonatics site it says: Update: There is a beta version of the UMC-1 firmware available from Emotiva right now. It isn't officially supported on Emotiva's site, but if you would like to give it a try, Emonatics has packaged up the v7.2.00.05 beta and made it available below. I can't find the .05 software on the Emo support page so my question is: is the .05 that my UMC-1 came with a beta version and there will be another version out soon or has the .05 been released offically and I just don't know where to find it on the Emo website?

You need to mail Lonnie to get the 05 unless it comes shipped with your UMC-1.
Lonnie is currently on a trip to work on the next code release (no doubt amongst other things), so it may be wise to wait a little longer.

carbonsummit: The .05 your unit came with is the latest release that any of us know about, and it should be the same as the .05 beta I got from Lonnie.
There will be another official release coming out, we're just not sure when.
My guess is that considering the difficulty some people have doing an update, Emotiva wants to keep the number of releases down.

These updates are really scary, especially when you're not from America... Now that I received my new dumbbell euh... remote, I'll try to load new firmware this week-end. From what I've read, the most important thing is the order...

I called Emo about something else today so while I had them I asked about the .05 firmware I have and they also said that yes when they release the next firmware (even if its called .05) it will be different than what I have and I'll need to upgrade. They said it would be in a couple of weeks.
