Hey guys, I figured I would just start a new thread for the new FW, instead of continuing on the "customer service" thread. If you haven't noticed yet, I and four other people have the new FW installed, and have been posting updates in that "customer service" thread. So I would suggest you read the posts over there first. So far, as I've been reporting, the new FW has been very stable, and has been a joy to use. I'm still kind of playing with it, and have been trying everything that I can think of to upset it, but it's been very stable I hope others will have the same experience, because this FW has been very nice to me so far. Here is what Lonnie initially posted about it enjoy... "I wish I could tell you what all I'm working on but I honestly did forget. I don't have the stuff on this computer, but I will see what I can put together. In regards to the UMC software.............I don't know if I should say anything, but I'm going to anyway. I have a really hot rodded version of the code that we have been running in house and plan to release early next week. Since we were able to resolve the bulk of the issues we were able to take a breath and really go through it and you are going to love what we have done. Audio lock is really fast, audio latch, gone, channel drop, I believe it to be gone as well and we even refined some of the HDMI handling to speed up switch times. Modified some of the code to open up the dynamic range even more so sound quality is better than before. The code I have right now is SOoooooooooo sweet. Anyone want to get their hands on it now? I'll tell you what. You will need to load in a new DSP code and new main code. So if you have already brought your unit up to 7 series code and want to get your hands on it, I will send an advanced copy of it to the first 5 people who email me. Just for those who don't know, it's lonnie@emotiva.com I'm a bad person." I called Emo about something else today so while I had them I asked about the .05 firmware I have and they also said that yes when they release the next firmware (even if its called .05) it will be different than what I have and I'll need to upgrade. They said it would be in a couple of weeks.

The first quote (red text) was before the currently available (by EM) 05 code was released and it did become available not too long after than estimate (I got it early December and if bugs had not been found it would have no doubt been put on the web page).
The 2nd quote is regarding the next one, which may well be released in a couple of weeks (when Lonnie returns), so what is the point you are trying to make?

That's obvious: dates are not respected, or estimations are bad. Not that I want to accuse someone or Emotiva, but that's true. :-)
In my case, now that I have resolved a lot of my problems with not using 96+kHz anymore, I'm less impatient. But I'll update everything soon, since I have new remote.

do they have two versions of 05? Yes, I've been told that some people clearly weren't confused enough.....so ALL future FW releases will have the same name. They will all be called .05 just for the sake of continuity and to ease any confusion that may exist. In addition, all hardware products (with the exception of Emotiva t-shirts) will follow a similar path and be known as XPA-5 from now on. Ray

Does anyone know which reel to reel tape recorder would sound the best played through the UMC-1; yes, I know it sounds odd but I have a nostalgic phase I am going through?

pcguy...If I am following you right, I think the confusion is that the last FW shown on Emo's official site to download (the 10/25 you refer to above) is the version prior to the 05. The 05 is shipping on all current new ones (from what I hear), is available upon request from Emotiva for those wanting to upgrade ones they have on their existing UMC's w/o it, and is also available on the Emonatics site.
And, yes, the version that's available early next week is the same as the two weeks ago version and is the same as the other one that I didn't mention but will in a few weeks. Clear? (Please do not confuse this statement with any official statement from anyone else, and it even confuses me!)

They said it would be in a couple of weeks. That just about the first I've heard about a time frame for the new code. I'm just speculating here, but, if I remember correctly the chipset used in the XMC is just about the same as the UMC. If I was them, I would get the kinks worked out of the code on the UMC first. And them port those newer tweaks over to the XMC code.

If it takes forever I will wait for you For a thousand summers I will wait for you Till you're back beside me, till I'm holding you Till I hear you sigh here in my arms
Anywhere you wander, anywhere you go Every day remember how I love you so In your heart believe what in my heart I know That forevermore I'll wait for you
The clock will tick away the hours one by one Then the time will come when all the waiting's done The time when you return and find me here and run Straight to my waiting arms
If it takes forever I will wait for you For a thousand summers I will wait for you Till you're here beside me, till I'm touching you And forevermore sharing your love

I think jamrock missed the "red". Too funny! (Not you jamrock.) Another anomaly tonight: Switched from DirecTv to BluRay, the screen went pure green, and no remote commands could make the UMC respond. Front button cycle fixed it. The strange things are rare and not a bother. They are concerning yet correctable. HOWEVER: Shortly after getting BluRay and the UMC talking again, the BluRay locked completely. Me thinks the LG BluRay was being rather uncooperative in this particular case. HDMI could have been so much better!

I guess I'm not the only one, but I got stuck at the end of DSP Flash: "Complete %". And it restarts DSP flash. Fortunately I read the solution in emonatics. At the end, when it's written "complete %", I just did the update of front panel (Lonnie told me to do it before 7.05, but I'm not sure it's a good idea). Then I restarted, the DSP Flash was redone one more time. At the end, when written "Complete %", I've done the 7.05 firmware update, and at the end, UMC-1 starts without problem (on tuner input).
Just my experience.

I've gotten the "DSP Mismatch error" a couple of times since installing .05. The UMC boots up and seems to work just fine afterwards, but seeing that error is pretty freaky.
