Has anyone managed to downgrade from .05 back to .02.00? I have probelsm with .05 acquiring DD 2.0 signals which were fixed in .02.00 and I want to go back to .02.00 for now. Hi Petes, Yes I did it successfully as I was paradoxically experiencing more audio drops and longer lock times than with 02.00. For some reason I tried just the UMC code (aka part II) but had a DSP mismatch error. So I had to start with the reload of the DSP code which came with .02.00 and then the 2nd file "UMC". good luck

I hope there will not be a specific FINAL one and they will keep providing updates as needed for fixes/improvements.
The NEXT release is, with luck, just a week or two away if Lonnie's testing goes well. He is off at the factory at the moment I believe. Fingers Xed!

Ummmm, if I'm not mistaken, Chinese New Year is next week. Few people work over there for about a week or two. If the new code is not released this week. It'll likely be mid-February before you'll see it.

I'm not sure if the FW is done in China or India or...? So, Chinese New Year may or may not play a role in the timing.

I see your love/hate meter is moving back to love again! I've run into a few quirky issues but overall I'm pretty happy with the UMC-1 myself. Looking forward to the new firmware to see what it brings. Probably because I have not had the problems others have had the thing I hope they include in the new firmware most is that the mute stays muted unless you push volume or mute again. Petty I know, but that bugs me! I was going though the set up menus writing my settings down on that sheet you can download off the UMC-1 page just in case and I noticed that some of my advanced playback settings had changed. This seems to be an issue that I've had now and then from new.

So the UMC-1 is a "Winner"! ;D The myth is broken. Does not matter to me, I love their amps and some of the other stuff.

Kind of reminds me of a Lincoln and a Ford. All the same underneath! I missed being laid off due to outsourcing by 3 months. Now I manage 2 teams of technical contractors from India - on-shore and off-shore. The amount of talent in the USA going to waste is very sad. Quite a few displaced individuals have taken jobs with the outsource vendor at reduced wages to stay in their field of expertise. What is heartening is that corporations are realizing that a lot of company knowledge left along with the replaced technical experts. Rehires are more frequent and larger. The pendulum is swinging back. Slowly. EDIT: So the point is that I wish USA people were doing the work but there are still a lot of USA people in the chain to get the units from China to us. I would expect the next code release will not be labeled 00.05 It all depends on what was changed. Normally, major releases are v1., v2., v3., etc. Maybe v2.1? Versioning is pretty standard across enterprises so if the new release is v3. it could be a significant change. V2. was a significant improvement over v1.

I took a look at the umcsoftware/updates page today looking for a possible new version. What is the 'short.rar' file release on 01/13/11. I click on it, but it's 2.9GB!!!....

Much higher than Emotiva's. What OEM sets their prices higher than the small boutique company slapping their name on some product they supposedly didn't design?

It seems to be a collection of .m2ts files for testing purposes. I see the following, so far dd5p1.m2ts dd2p0.m2ts ddEX6p1.m2ts ddHD7p1.m2ts I'm guessing these are: dolby digital 5.1, dolby digital 2.0, dolby digital EX 6.1, and dolby digital HD 7.1.

Might be worth grabbing for test cpmparisons. I gave up trying to grab it, at 360kB/sec it was not worth it.

My C-200 will play BD files directly, so if the bandwidth improves I might try again.
