Nemesis, I have DV off, but I leave it off with everything anyhow. I did try it once while watching TV, but it still gave me that muddy bloated dialog. But I only left it on briefly, and didn't play with it at all. I will give it another test for ya though.

Ummmm..........the UMC never had a Party mode and at this point it still doesn't, sorry. I can still apply DPL IIx to stereo and get a similar effect. Can't I? jamrock Jamrock, I'm not exactly sure what your question is but I'll try to answer. With a two channel source such as a CD, you cannot select "All Stereo" mode. And yes, you can select PLII, DSP, and NEO:6 modes to send something to the other channels. Those modes are really meant to simulate different surround modes or environments but I don't think thats what you're looking for.

Like Lonnie said, there is no party mode/all channel stereo mode. From what I understand, the "All stereo" mode that is on the UMC right now, is a mode that you can use to allow you to overlay BM and EQ settings over MCPCM.

Can't I? jamrock Absolutely Personally I like PLIIx in Music mode. Then you can adjust the Center Width and Spacial affects. ;D We are still working on a "Party Mode" like what we had in our older processors, but the coding required is pretty deep. But we are working on it.

Lonnie, can you comment on my post above about the "All stereo" mode that is currently in the UMC for clarification?

It will also stop the wife from complaining that after spending so much money on a H/T, most of the speakers still can't play. I've tried every explanation in the book to no effect (understanding). Geebo, Sorry for confusing you man. You're not my only victim. Thanx for the effort. jamming - jamrock! ;D ;D ;D

Lonnie, I noticed a small glitch that I don't know if existed before the new firmware. If I put in a BD with PCM 5.1 uncompressed audio, the UMC will show the proper input stream but will select "Direct" mode. In advanced playback and for the BD input I have "All Stereo" selected for MultiPCM, but it will always sets direct mode. I can change it in the Mode menu and it works.

So it's only with PCM 5.1 uncompressed that you see this? No other codecs?

So it's only with PCM 5.1 uncompressed that you see this? No other codecs? All the other settings I've chosen work fine. Its only when I put in a bluray with PCM 5.1 uncompressed. I can select the All Stereo afterwards, but the default I've chosen doesn't get selected. It defaults to Direct mode. I will have to see if I have another BD that I can try.

Thanks, if you are getting the bloat, try moving the DV offset, you might find it good at e.g. +3. You can enable DV and then move the offset up and down until it sounds clear.

I just tried another bluray, "Gone Baby Gone" which has a 5.1 uncompressed audio option. I selected that in the BD menu and then selected play. The format showed by the UMC was Multi PCM but it chose Direct mode to play. Going into Mode and selecting All Stereo does work. I double checked my Advanced Settings and it is set at All Stereo for MultiPCM with the BD input. I'm not positive it behaved this way before the update but I think I had that problem before...

In advanced playback and for the BD input I have "All Stereo" selected for MultiPCM, but it will always set direct mode. I can change it in the Mode menu and it works. Thanks for the feedback. We wrote out own code to make the MCPCM work correctly and from everything we have tested it is decoding as it should. For those of you who have been keeping up on this, we found there was an actual error in the Cirrus which caused the decoder to run in Stereo mode when certain MCPCM signals were recieved. But in the new code we wrote our own bit of code to fix this so now you get MCPCM when it sees MCPCM (imagine that ). But the system defaulting to Direct is what it should do during lock, but if you have selected All Stereo as your preferred mode it should jump to that once it locks. If it isn't, that means we just have a little bump in the personal settings menu and I will look into it. I have tested virtually all the other settings and formats in the personal settings and they are working correctly.

I'm on ver 7.02. Yes, in Music mode there is a boost in the bass response and it then allows you to change the center width and dimension (these options are only available in Music mode). Other than that the decoding remains the same.

Nemesis you hit the nail on the head. If it sounds bloated, then the modeler is boosting the voices to much and all you have to do is play with the DV offset until it sounds the way you want. I know there is a way to calculate the "correct" setting, but the reality is it may not sound the way you want it too. So in the end, just play with it until you like it. ;D

When running a MCPCM signal into the unit, Direct mode will disable any E.Q.s and post processing and give you what comes in. If you put it into All Stereo, it will down mix the channels and break them back out again with BM, EQs, and such.
