I think I bought my BPA-1 through AV123 around 2006 when I got the Rocket 250 MK2's.
Still think the BPA-1 was a real sweet amp. Now I own a XPA-5, UPA-2, UMC-1, USP-1. I think I fell pretty hard for Emotiva stuff!

December 2006. LPA and LMC. Still have them. Amp has been faultless. Love it. The LMC was, well, like the UMC. You learn to love it like a troubled step-child.

Bob, I think he was just referring to the fact that, that review didn't do the MPS any justice is all. It wasn't a "shame on you" type of post at all. Yeah, I was not too sure, that's why I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Plus it is so much easy sometimes to misinterpret the words of a person showing on your computer' screen. Same with reviews... But that word "shame" is a strong word indeed, and it makes me realize how too I am sensitive to simple words. But the main thing is this: I luv Ronnie, and I'm sure he didn't mean that related to me, but to that particular review. Thanks Pauly for bringing that light to my attention. It does recomfort me.

Bob,
Pauly read my intention as it was meant to be understood. I assumed that you had "googled" and randomly picked a review. My remark was to alert other Lounge members that there were several reviews published on the MPS-1 within a few months of each other. The "shame" was that reading the review that you had linked might leave people thinking that it was a typical view of the MPS and that review was so contrary to what other reviewers (and many owners) thought about Emotiva's flagship amp in 2005.
The Audioholics review stuck in my memory and I felt it had been the most balanced and comprehensive of the reviews I had read. The shame was people might not be aware just how highly respected the amp was when it was released. As Audioholics later awarded the Emotiva MPS-1 such a high recognition as being the Best HT Amplifier of 2005. You, personally, was not the focal point of the word "shame". Peace be with you.

Thanks Ronnie, I fully understand now. And you are totally correct on your assumption; I simply googled at random, and without reading the review, but mainly looking at the date of the review (year 2005), I simply typed the link. I never read that review, so I didn't even know if it was a positive or negative one. Besides, I've never read a negative review before on any Emotiva products. One if not the major reason that I am here is because I always have been very impressed about everything Emotiva related; for their superb performance and their tremendous value. Excuse my small doubt of misconstruction Ronnie, I'm just a Frenchman after all. ;D Luv you very much indeed, Bob

Well, I was one of the 1st 25 people to get their MPS-1 & DMC-1 from AV123 ~Dec 2004. I still have my MPS-1. WOW! It looks like you may have the oldest, trouble free amp from Emotiva. Do you still have your DMC-1? I have a MMC-1. When the UMC-1 came out I was not sure it would be able to supplant my MMC-1, so I kept it in reserve... just in case. I will probably use it in the spare bedroom for game playing and watching TV and movies. I liked the MMC so much I am thinking of using an external Video Processor to add HDMI 1.3 capability to it. I should probably just sell it, buy the XMC when it is released, and use the UMC in the spare bedroom. I just hate the thought of letting it go. ;D ;D

Don't let it go Ronnie, keep it as a "medallion", and old relic with sentimental value!

I've had my MPS-2 for several years, but it's had problems. My preamp had problems too.

I'm the second owner of an RPA-1. It is used everyday for multiple hours. (its pounding out some Paramore as I type this) On the weekends it can be on for 16 to 20 hours continuous. No problems at all. I don't see this amp ever leaving my stable.

My first Emotiva amps were my UPA-1 monos. They were purchased when they were first being released. I cannot remember the date. More recently, I added an XPA-5 and two XPA-1s to get in on the holiday pricing. I am still waiting for the MPA-1 though...I like the idea of a small integrated amp coupled with some nice bookshelves for a simple two channel system.
