Sensitivity (volts RMS) for full rated power at 4 ohms: 1.25 V.
Frequency Response (at 1 watt) 22 Hz to 20 kHz: +0 dB, –0.8 dB.
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (20 Hz to 20 kHz) A-weighted, below rated power: >98 dB. No weighting, below rated power: >93 dB.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): <0.5%.
Intermodulation Distortion (IMD): (60 Hz and 7 kHz at 4:1) from full rated output to –40 dB: < 0.3%.
Damping Factor (8 ohm) 10 Hz to 400 Hz: >200.
Crosstalk (below rated power) at 1 kHz: –76 dB. at 20 kHz: –58 dB.
Input Impedance (nominal): 20 kilohms balanced, 10 kilohms unbalanced.
200w @8ohm 300w @4 ohms Bridged 600w
Im curious what you think about these amp specs? I dont want to give the manufacturers name due to bias. I was thinking of adding an Emotiva amp, but wanted to compare this amp to Emotvia (stats) and see what kind of feedback I receive. Either positive or negative. Price is also a consideration, but ill leave out the price of this amp for now. So whatcha all think? good, bad, neutral?

Should I say somethin'? ;D Those are pretty much standard specs souless, and they won't really tell you about the amp's quality sound itself. * Nice to see you popping up just like that!

Guessing a Crown pro amp?
I always thought pro amps were best for Djs and DIY subs. But buying an amp based on those #s would be a tough call, would be best to hear it before you buy, but that is not always an option especially with all the "e" commerce.
.5% THD seems kind of high, but like I said above.
Edited for spelling, dang iPod lol

Sensitivity (volts RMS) for full rated power at 4 ohms: 1.25 V. > A bit low voltage.
Frequency Response (at 1 watt) 22 Hz to 20 kHz: +0 dB, –0.8 dB. > -0.8 dB ain't too good!
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (20 Hz to 20 kHz) A-weighted, below rated power: >98 dB. > I would like to see a little bit higher figure... No weighting, below rated power: >93 dB. > Same as above.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): <0.5%. > I would like to see 0.05%
Intermodulation Distortion (IMD): (60 Hz and 7 kHz at 4:1) from full rated output to –40 dB: < 0.3%. > I would like to see 0.03%
Damping Factor (8 ohm) 10 Hz to 400 Hz: >200. > That is fine.
Crosstalk (below rated power) at 1 kHz: –76 dB. at 20 kHz: –58 dB. > I would like to see above -80 dB across the full audio range.
Input Impedance (nominal): 20 kilohms balanced, 10 kilohms unbalanced. > Mmm...
200w @8ohm 300w @4 ohms Bridged 600w > Normal.Im curious what you think about these amp specs? I dont want to give the manufacturers name due to bias. I can find exactly which amp it is, and the price asking. My personal suggestion: Get an Emotiva XPA-5 amp!

My neighbor is looking for an amp. I told him to buy an emotiva but his mind is stuck in another gear. Im still waiting for the xmas sale myself for 5ch. amp. Hopefully I can change his track of thinking. He's so stuck on pro gear and speakers. He does like his Mirage speakers. He wanted to amp out and was going to use a crown amp. I told him it was bad idea and said "I'll post the question on the emo board but you wont like the answer" LOL. Just cause its cheaper dont mean its better. I know hes trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone but still. How ya doing Bob? Hope to be back full time soon. Time for some zzzzz's

I'm fully Winter clothed inside! I only have a small mickey mouse electric block heater right now (the other one blew on me the other day!), and I got no spare money for oil! It's gong to be a tough Winter for Bob! Good night, sweet dreams.

Souless,
Just show the neighbor the specs for the XPA-5 using the test data in the PDF files on the bottom of the product page. For example, THD+N tested out at 0.007% at 200W per channel with all channels driven into 8 Ohm load. That is approximately 100 times better than the Crown amp he is stuck on.
The Crown's specs, when compared to quality consumer A/V amps, is mediocre, at best. Unless your neighbot plans on "touring" with his system, there is little reason to consider the "Pro" amps. They are designed to be used in entirely different environments and really do not compete well for residential home theaters. The neighbor just needs to understand that you use the appropriate tool that fits the job that needs to be done... and the Crown is the wrong tool for HT systems.

I took apart the gas fireplace to brush the carbon off the igniter(or whatever they call it) and got the thing working, my wife loves me for that!

See if you can find an oil-filled electric radiator, those are much better and more efficient (assuming 110v is enough to get them going <G>) Your HiFi would be a good excuse for a 230v circuit and you could hook one of those up too then.

Bob,
Do you have a friend or friends that you can borrow some big tube amplifiers from? I hear they make great heaters.
Seriously, I hope things improve for you quickly. It's really no fun freezing in your own home.

He's still putting together his outdoor theater and wanted something portable to move indoors and outdoors without worries of damage. He's considering a B-52 Matrix $899.00 and QCS ? amplified speakers along with Gemini amp speakers. The internal amp allows easy mobility vs passive and a crown amp. He figured if he purchased passive speakers he could use a crown amp or similar to power his Mirage speakers. Not sure how that would sound. A mutual friend works at a theater where they use JBL Cinema speakers and amps and suggested to try pro sound since there meant to be moved alot. Hes not looking for nice HT speakers becuase they will get damaged moving outdoor on the grass or barn for parties. The pro amp was more of an afterthought purely based on price. Emotiva xpa-5 $800 while a crown amp is $300. But you cant base everything on price..........
