Now that this is on sale this weekend fro a good price. I need any iniout on what I can really expect from this with my ed a5-350. I love lost of bass. Will this lower my bass output. Im not a criticle listener by all means. Mp3 only or pandora streamed. If it flattens out the response wont that mean I would be getting less bass overall. I love hoe my floor and whole house shakes. So will this improve that or take away from what I have. Remember. I am not a criticle listener but if this will make it better and not take away from my bass which right now hits 123db. and 125 with my mains running( currently without an amp.) Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks all EDIT I may run 2 subs in the same corner soon also if this will matter. I think I could just run a splitter off the back of it since they are co located. I really dont want to nuy the 8033s as its 100 more and I need that for a new amp

If you can afford the 8033S, got for it. It does everything the 8033C does and more. Plus it can calibrate 2 subs without the need for a splitter. After the calibration, it will seem that you have lost some bass as the bumps in the bass signal are gone. However, you will get 2 lifts: 1 that boost the output at 20Hz and; 1 that boost the signal at 35Hz (simplification). You can then adjust the subs levels to your hearts desire and you'll get smooth, deep 'non-boomy' bass through out your room. Good luck! ;D

I would hate to lose bass. lol Seeing that I listen to mostly hiphop and rap at high volume. Im used to aot of bass due to my car stereo systems. Im not sure what frequency range the bass is in most rap. As for the 2 lifts. Maybe that would make up for some of the loss. I guess Im just worried about losing bass. But a flat response may sound better even with my listening habits. Im 90% movies and the rest mp3's. I guess I have till tomorrow night to decide. ANyone else have any thing to persuade me to get it or not too based on my listening habits. Or seeing that I still need to get an emo amp again would I gain more by buying an amp.

You will have the opportunity to turn up your sub to any level you like. You might like bass as much as I do, but not more than I do. But, you must decide. I am talking from experience. My bass is simply fantastic

Do you like the way your setup sounds now? This unit will smooth out the response. If you are used to the typical car stereo sound with an exaggerated bass response, then this unit will ruin that for you. The plus side will be that it will allow your system to play properly more different types of music. Having stalled many many car systems in my younger days, I know the rap bass sound vs the flattened base I now have with the 8033S I just put in. PS. This is nothing against hip hop. The music is supposed to sound this way and is mixed this way for airplay. Now I'm going to blast some old school Public Enemy.

Well, Bootman: How do you like what your 8033S did to your system bass? Are you using flat, lift 25 or lift 35? ;D

My sub sits in the front left corner, so flat worked best.

I have two subs and two 8033c's. As Jamrock says, it'll smooth out the response and get rid of the bumpy peaks in your room - then you can raise the overall sub level to your desired rattling pleasure.

Thanks for the input everyone. I think for now I am going to pass. Being I am used to rap and car stereos kind of bass. Plus some unexpected expenses came up so cant get it anyway now.

Tough when you get blindsided by real problems. But don't be discouraged. You will get another opportunity to go for it. I hope everything works out for you.

Thanks jamrock. Im sure Ill find it on sale another time. I received my unit today and got it hooked up and calibrated. It has a handy bypass switch so you can toggle between a calibrated signal versus what you had before. I have not had much time to work with music yet but will soon. I will probably post in another thread to spare Chris the salt. Hang in there Chris and I am a very patient buyer too. You are making the right judgment as these are discretionary items for our hobby, no need to rush.
