I was just in the emo store and didn't see any rack ears for sale. Are these discontinued?

You should call Emotiva and ask them.

yes they still have them. They are listed under ampwear on the product page.
Im curious. How can these ears hold something like an xpa-1 or any of the big amps? From the pics it just looks like they screw to the side of the amp. Where is the support under the amp? Seems this would put alot of stress on the amp? Anyone have any better pics of the rack ears?

From what I an see of the ears for the XPA-5, there are two screws at the top front and one at the rear bottom for mounting to ears to the case. I also notice a small lip on the bottom of the bracket which would also help support the weight of the unit.

Yeah at closer look I see a small hole for a rear screw. The pics are a little misleading. They dont look like they are as deep as the amp but I think they are now.

In case you weren't already aware they end up fitting in racking like crap. Emo drilled the spacing on the rack ears so that they mount in the middle of the regular RU rack spacing, leaving over a half inch gap top and bottom of the amp once mounted. You would have to make a custom blank on your own to fill these unsightly gaps. There is a huge thread in here about it from last year, Emo said they did it intentionally to prevent people from stacking components too closely and that they would correct them to fit standard rack spacing. If you're racking equipment it's just common sense to space components that need ventilation. Unless you don't care about the gaps then steer clear of their rack ears and use a MiddleAtlantic custom shelf instead, I ended up liking the MA better anyway, looks nice and clean in my rack setup. Lots of info here: emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=amps&action=display&thread=13880&page=3

The new lot has the gap "problem" corrected. There was a thread some days ago where someone showed the the new ones, but I can't seem to find it now.

Ah I see. I found the thread you mentioned, glad they finally revised them, but too bad it took them so long to do so.
