I tried to locate your first name but to no avail. I thought it was Brian. But it ain't, right? Nope its Chris. last name selke as in my name on here is last name first initial selkec. And on all audio forums., I use same selkec... I forgot about this thread. But I reread it and someone said I may hit 126 from one meter. Here is the weird thing. It is louder from 14ft than one meter. At least it sounds louder. Its too late to test with meter. But maybe the reason its so lud at my listening position is because my couch is against the wall and if you do the bass crawl for max bass this is where I get the most and visa versa if the sub is where couch is. Then the corner is way loud. The bad thing about this is I have dead spots thruout the room so when Im partying. Some spots its like is my damn sub on. Its shaking the floor but you hear no bass. But for HT use which is 90% its perfect for bass and impact and it pressurizes the room like crazy. I do want 1 or 3 more though to stack in the front corners. ;D

Ya, more subs = more even balanced pressurization all around, Chris.

Yeha Bob. Thats what I want. It is weird to walk thru the room and go from 120dbs to almost no bass at all. The problem is I can only do the front corners as the rear corners have door ways and my back wall besides my couch there is no room do the front door swinging open to it then a hall way. SO Im not sure adding one in the other front corner would even out alot. Would it?

But Chris, you don't usually watch a Movie or listen seriously to Music, walking around in your room.
I only have two subs in my main room; and they are positioned both on the front wall and at the left and the right of my two front main loudspeakers. And for Movies I let Audyssey MultEQ equalize them, after manually balance them myself. For Stereo Music, I don't use my two 15" subs, I play my two mains Full Range (they play clean to 30Hz, and few dBs down at 24Hz), and I don't play them pass 105dB. And even less as I have way too much respect for whatever hearing I got left.
Chris, another good positions for two subs is in front, and between your center speaker and each one of your Right and Left mains. - And outside them, nearer the two front corners would give you more room gain, would excite more room's boundaries for more overall even balance and some additional overall gain too.
* It is good to position a Sub(s) alongside the longest wall(s) in your room; so the standing waves can travel farther without interruption.

My longets walls are where my tv and speakers and sub and my couch is. I kinda have my room set up opposite of what most people would do with the screen and everything on the short walls. As for the subs being between the mains and center. I cant due to space. The corners are my only options. And you are right. I am not walking around during movies so why do I care if there is no bass in other spots. In my listening position its perfect. I even have my mains set up so good that I play tricks on my friends. I play 2 channel music and tell them to point to the speakers where the voices are coming from and they point to the center. I tell them to walk up to that speaker and they freak out. They think Im messing with them. They say it was just on. lol its really funny. It even gets me sometimes and I have check that the center is off. It took me a while to get that perfect adjustment. Took alot of measuring and exact angles of my mains. But it sure is sweet. I could do without a center speaker now and would not miss much.

^ In my old home I did just that.. setup was along he long wall (room was narrow and long with a window at 1 end and the door into the room at the other). As you say, all that matters is how it sounds at the sweet spot. All that adjustment and tweaking really does pay off. Enjoy!

For the record, 130 db of bass is a world of difference from 130 db in the midrange. The 130 with bass is mild, while 130 in mids is deafening. For perspective, in a car to hit 130, you only need a single ported 10 with 500 watts. To hit 130 in a house is sick! I am with Dyon in that there is no way you are hitting even 126 with a single ported 15 off 500 watts. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but an spl meter will not read higher in a far away corner than it would in the middle of the room. The increase in bass that you hear when moving around a room is not due to higher spl levels, it is due to phase cancellation/reinforcement. That statement does not include standing or measuring in the same corner that the sub is in, then spl does go up due to your proximity to the sub. There is just no way that THAT sub is pressurizing a 2856 cu foot room to 126 db. 3 or more... maybe. FWIW, I come from a long car audio history myself, my personal best is 151.4db. THAT is violent to say the least! Also, FWIW, the termlab spl meter is probably the most accurate, and least expensive one to use, although I wonder if the sensor will need to be replaced due to the fact that it is designed to stick on a windshield, I don't know how it will act in a freeair type situation.

So I just realized my radio shack meter max out at 126db. DUH All this time I been thinking thats my max for my sub. I want to know what I can really hit. lol IS there a meter used that goes higher? or If I use the radio shack meter and REW software is there a way to get more accurate readings on my computer? there was a guy that was selling Galaxy Audio Checkmate CM 140 Spl meters over at hometheatershack already calibrated.
