What's interesting to me is my company uses single-crystal sapphire - which is made from aluminum oxide - as an electrical insulator. As far as I know it's not a conductor...

and will make all low grade speakers sound fantastic,,
can certainly see the positive for power transmission,, way smaller wire and most likely limited heat,,

Perhaps upgrading things like telephone lines, internet lines, etc would be better suited applications for such technology. When it comes to audio ICs and speaker cables, I feel you would have a difficult sale if you try to convince the consumer there is something that is going to replace their audio cables that are physically very different than the established copper wires. Too much entrenchment of what works and what doesn't. I could be wrong.
