You should check Iron & Wine's latest album "The Shepherd's Dog". It's not as slow and a lot fuller music-wise, not lo-fi/guy in a room by himself with a guitar kind of music.

I took the afternoon off today and listening to some new titles I started receiving this week. First up: Yo La Tengo - I like this a lot but too new to rate! Second up: Thrice - The Alchemy Index, Vols III and IV, Air and Earth This is a new band for me and a double disk. I like it and it really fits my mood today! Too new to rate but I like it.

If you liked the Yo La Tengo, they have several "side" projects, including this one that I like. I'll post a link because some will consider the name of the band offensive... LINK

This just arrived today and is my first walkmen recording. Verdict is still out for me and I need some more spins on it. A lot of music for me hinges on the quality of the vocals and this singer is kind of nasal so I have to break it in as it is not my favorite vocal style. Too new to rate. What is nasal vocals... Here is a description and some bands like the decemberists while very popular to some is unlistenable to me because of the vocal. www.ehow.com/video_2388044_eliminate-nasal-sound-singing.html

Since buying an ERC-1 I have been digging through the old CD collection and wow the mid 70's Scorpions sound so good, great songs, sublime guitar work by Uli Roth, just great rock 'n roll. 'Sails of Charon' still gives me goosebumps. This CD and 'In Trance' are my personal faves from the Scorps.

Good Lord, this is a GREAT jazz album . . incredible recording quality and a glorious performance of flawless symmetry between her piano, the drums, and the bass. Williams' playing reminds me of Monk or Evans: a hard touch on the keys yet delicate in melody and form. For example, the piano virtuoso Hiromi Uehara's style is in sharp contrast to Williams. I'm not saying either style is better, just different. In this performance, Williams and her band mates shine. Highly recommended (if you like jazz, I guess)

For you sticknstones. Hopefully this will ease you more into The Walkmen. IMO this is one of the best songs of the 2000s.
