So, since I am spending all this money on an audio setup, I was just curious as to what speaker wire works well. Should I spring for the banana cables or just use wire? Anyone out there using Emotiva connects?

I bought the ultra's from Emo with banana's and then bought the plan wire and Kit from Emo to build my own. I was told by the folks at Emo that the ultra and xp are the same wire just different connectors. Really no difference. Some would like to think so.
Just get large gauge wire 10-12 gauge for your speakers and make sure they are the same length on each side, it's all a scam when buying expensive connects. I'm sure there are folks at here that are going to say BS on what I just said.
research it.

Pop, Many of us here get all of our speaker wire, cables and connections from monoprice or cables for less. Both have very good products at very good prices.
I usually get their best and have never had an issue with anything from either company. ;D

I bought a 250 ft spool of 12g speaker wire at my local Home Depot 16 years ago and still have plenty left for my next speaker wiring project. If you want banana plugs, I recommend these. www.speakerrepair.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=AHH_BananaI recently replaced the black chrome plugs for their locking plugs. Speaker wire and connectors don't have to be expensive. If you really want to look expensive, I can sell you some styrofoam cups that you can use as cable risers and I can mark them up 100x to help in the sell. ;D

I think I will just purchase some extremely inexpensive wire and some pricey wire and see if I notice a difference. I was toying around with the notion of using Emotiva speaker cable for my LCR and then running wire to the surrounds.

you dont need huge wire. 12 gauge is perfect for most all home theaters. 10 gauge is overkill. NO, you dont have to keep your wires the same length. Not many people have the opportunity for this anyway.
