Bought two Ultra 12 subwoofers early this year and just noticed that one of them is not working. Light is on, (blue light), but no sound. Caught this by accident and didn't know how long it hasn't been working, since I have two.
Cables, connections, etc. checked. Is this just a fuse issue as the light is still blue or turns blue when given a signal? It's Saturday and will call tech support Monday but just wondering if any of you can give their inputs.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the plate amp may be out. There is a fuse located on the back but not sure if the blue light would work if the fuse is blown. Best to call Emo Monday. They'll get it taken care of for you. BTW, welcome to the Lounge!

Thank you geebo. I was just listening to music, comparing the sound in my media room to my dedicated music room. Noticed that one subwoofer has no output. Volume level is at 11 o'clock for both subwoofers, phase is 0, crossover is bypassed but at 180. replaced cables, checked connection, but still no output. Read the manual and manual says may be a blown fuse and contact tech support for assistance.
By the way, I am still very impressed with Ultra 12 subwoofers, the sound quality and most specially the packaging.

I just confirmed that one of my ultra 12 is also not working. Similar situation, power is on, blue light is on, but no sound. Noticed it this week.
Will Emo just ship the plate amp and owner can replace it? However, I'll have to learn how to safely discharge the capacitor.

Will call them Monday, ottaone. Hope its an easy fix. I don't mind shipping it back to them so they can fix it for me. Hopefully I won't have the same problem like I had with another ID company which was the primary reason why I swiched to Emotiva.

My Ultra 12quit a few days ago as well. Blue light, but nada sound other than a barely hearable hiss.
Gotta call Emo

My 12, which I bought in January, went bad in the same way. E-mailed Emotiva, got a return authorization, shipped it back and got it back fixed, all within a week's time. Good service. I think these periodic failures are the price we pay for getting such high-performing gear at such a reasonable price.

That is so nice to hear that almost all have had very good experience with their problems being resolved. I had bought subwoofers from another ID company and it was like almost blaming you for even turning on the subwoofer. Trying to return something was a pain with all the REM paperwork you have to fill out with emphasis on not properly filling it out will cause void of warranty, etc. Up to this moment, have seen numerous complaints at AVS forum about this ID company. I won't even refer this company to my worst enemy as it took me four months to receive the subwoofer I ordered and took me another two months to finally resolve the issue with a subwoofer that I received defective.

Just had this happen to my Ultra 12. I called Emotiva and they had me send in my plate amp to be repaired. One of the caps was bad. There is no need to send in the entire sub. I got it back in a little over a week. One thing though, getting the plate amp off even after removing the screws was difficult. I had to use a pick tool in one of the screw holes to pull off the amp.

puft54cs, I too just sent the plate amp and was actually given a tip on how to easily remove it as there is some form of adhesive. I was told to use one of the screws to actually pull the amp from the sub and it worked fine. Shipped it to them and is actually being shipped back to me right now complete with tracking updates.
So how is your ultra-12 now. everything working fine?

It is working great since I got it back. I think it sounds even better and louder than before. Could my imagination, but I had to turn it down because it was too loud.

The sub's alive! Got my plate amp yesterday. As indicated above, it was a bit tough pulling out the old one. The repaired sub does "sound" more powerful. Thanks Emotiva!
