It's a $500 sub, not a $1,500 one.

And small one at that. Reviewer does say that if you want more you should go for, at least, a 12" model.

It almost sounds like they praise many attributes it has but then say it falls short on bass extension. I felt they were a bit harsh in that scoring for the sub.. Yes, compared to a larger sub, it's not going to have the extension.

It has a HPF which doesn't allow it to extend much beyond 30hz. It's a con for people looking for a 20hz theater sub. There are trade offs in every sub design, the review just pointed out this sub's particular trade-off.
Deep, Loud, Small.......pick two.

Yes, I saw that, and one with an 18db slope.

spend $1500-$2500 ONCE....and never look back, thats my theory :-) It's not the looking back, it's the looking forward that does the damage. Regardless of how much you may have already spent. ;D Or maybe not so much looking back or looking forward. What does us in is looking around.

Save your money and buy a Rythmik. Many models to choose from and new models in the pipeline. Dave I agree on the Rythmik. Nothing against the Emotiva subs as I would still like to hear the X-Ref 12. But I think this is a case where you need to spend the extra money to get the most performance. Bill

Monoprice has a 12" Sub (38 pounds) with a 150 watts amp plate, for only $84! Whouahah! www.soundandvisionmag.com/article/review-monoprice-msub-a122-subwoofer*** You can have SIX (6) of them for $504!!! That comes to: - Six twelve inch drivers ( 12" driver x 6 of them)! - 228 pounds total weight! - 900 watts total amplification power! - You can have a sub for each of your satellite speakers in a 5.1-channel setup, plus a separate one for the LFE channel only! - And the total cost is still $504! Hey, for a large bathroom, that would make a very nice bathing experience indeed! ;D

Anyone here notice this comment:
".......... Lately we’ve been reviewing a lot of big box, refrigerator size subwoofers. These products proved to be sheer beasts in terms of output and extension. The laws of physics are on their side ..........."
Also this comment form the SVS website:
".......... "size matters" with subs .........."
From the Size Queens ;D
PS: This is a small sub and the review gave it tons of praise for top build quality, para EQ and great musical performance while down to about 29Hz at -3dB with their recommended EQ adjustment. Perfect for a smaller room HT system or 2.1 music system in a fairly small room, 1500 cu in or less, only lacking in low bass extension. This is obviously a great product but don't expect miracles out of this size sub.
PS2: A friend recently called Rythmik because he thought he had settled on the F25 model. He was told that they were out of amps and were upgrading to an 800 watt amp. However, they would be out of stock for 3-4 months on this new amp. I don't know if this applies to the other models as well.
