Hey...
Got my Emo gear last week, and it sounds killer.
As the thread title says, I get a hum from the sub when all the gear is in stand-by mode.
When I turn it all on, the hum goes away.
Right now I'm using an RCA cable; I ordered an XLR cable to replace the RCA.
Could the cable be the issue?

I can hear the inverter from the power supply when everything is in standby mode!!!
When you unplug the rca is the hum still present?

Once unplugged, the hum disappears. Also, I should note that I have the sub power cable plugged into a Belkin PF60.
Right now I'm using a stereo RCA cable, but since the USP-1 has a single RCA for the sub out, I'm only using the left channel of the cable, with the right cable terminations taped off.
When I unplug the RCA from the subs' input, I get the usual thump when I initially disconnect, but I can hear also a faint hum if I place the RCA termination too close to the sub RCA input.
That's why I'm thinking it's the cable picking up interference.
I'm getting a Canare Quad XLR today, so we'll see what happens.
It's not the end of the world if the noise stays.. I've been turning the sub off when I'm done listening, but...

Just wanted to post that I installed the XLR, and the noise issue went away.
Now here's another problem...
I have to get another sub, and figure out where to put it.
;D

Of course experimentation is key and a lot will depend on the room dynamics, listening preferences etc.

Hah, yeah, I was being a wise ass, actually. Bass is good now, but not as much impact as I'd like, and raising the x-over point above 75hz starts to localize the sub, and sound drags toward it a bit. Already have the level at -11dB.
But I'm used to the system I installed in my VW wagon, which has 2 15"s in the back, 2 8s" in the kicks, and 4"s in the A-pillars.
My arm hair moves when I crank it, I look like the dude from the old Maxell ads. Cabin gain for the win! ;D
Have a good holiday, all.
