Dunno, it shouldn't do that.
So many things ... Where to start? Interconnects? Sub settings (both on the subs themselves and in your pre/pro).
Be more precise; music playing, or movie, audio mode, etc.

Sounds like a preamp issue.

Volume pot is bad (part quality or design). Had something similar happen to an old Kenwood AVR that I used to have. To fix it I never turned the volume all the way down.

Just so I understand correctly - You hear the pop everytime you turn the volume up or down, but only when the volume is changing, correct? And you hear a pop for every half db the volume changes (one click)?
If so I have the same problem, only it's in all my speakers except my sub, and it looks like I have very simmilar equipment to yours.
For my problem I just came to the conclusion it was because of the high gain of the amps and the high efficiency of the speakers. I realize that might not help much, but it is all I got right now, maybe it will help spark an idea?
Sorry for not having more revelant info, if I can think of something I will let you know...

Are you using XLR or RCA connections to your sub? I've noticed XLR seems to increase the gain and can bring out more noise (at least in speakers, subs mgiht be different?)

It sounds like the same thing I am hearing with my speakers. I had the same problem when I was just using an Onkyo TX-SR806, also. I assume perhaps it's something to do with Onkyo? I don't know since I have never had another brand, at least one that was made within the last 10 years. With mine I only hear it when I am listening pretty close or when things are quite, so I just kind of got used to it over the last year, I never figured out how to make it go away.

Me, I just don't know about those things because I never watch TV for the last ten years at least (no cable, no cable box and no digital satellite dish, and no mickey mouse surcharge). I only use rabbits (antenna). From microwave analog terrestrial signals (it's free). ...For the very rare occasions that I want to know about the meteo.

Bob, the analog terrestrial signals are not microwave! If they were, then 'rabbit-ears' antennae wouldn't do much for you. Microwave is a 'line-of-sight' technology. Over the air (OTA) signals are high frequency UHF/VHF and unless you have an old TV which is analog only, you should also be receiving some HD channels. Set your QAM tuner to scan for all digital frequencies. You can find the channels broadcast in your area (broken down by digital or analog) from the FCC database by entering your address here. I get all these channels in my area. Of course, YMMV. To get the best out of it, the antenna would have to be rotated depending on frequencies. Or alternatively, use a "bow-tie" antenna which is not as good as a rotator because of frequency gain cancellation effects.

Ah. It's the old bad cable ground issue. Very common on cable systems as they tend to use very shoddy grounds at the cable drop into your house. It's a ground loop between your cable and your preamp. The only way to fix this is to break the shield on the cable. This can be done using one of these.
