I'm the type of person that would buy 7-9 mono amps but like what already been talked about, I'd never buy 7 mono amps unless they all had their own outlet. Thats what held me back before I bought my D-sonic. Now I can't imagine having 7 mono amps and to be honest, I'd never want them now. There really is not need at all. For fun? sure why not! that I can live with. I hear that. I've been leaning towards a PWM "digital" amp myself if I can find one that I like. Plan B is an XPA-2 coupled with an XPA-5, but it pains me to think of all the wasted heat that will generate along with the physical footprint required and 150lbs of weight.

^^And that's really what it's all about. Don't get me wrong in my critique of your position. I totally regard you as respectful member of this forum. I am not against you having the system that you like. And if it is 7 or an infinite amount of mono amps in 1 RU chassis, great. You are obligated to make yourself as happy as you can. ;D But when I discuss something such as this, in the back of my mind is the concern for the manufacturer. Is there an available market that makes this component profitable for the manufacturer at a reasonable price? And with regards to ordinary customer and audiophiles alike, I just don't see them abandoning their receivers and 2/3, 2/5 & 7/1 power amps to embrace 7 or how many mono amps. I hope that you do understand

I guess for class A/B having all monos may make a difference, I dunno but for class D stuff? Most designs that use ICE modules are full monoblocks in the same chassis, the only thing they share is the chassis and the common wall plug. It sure would look badass with 9 monoblocks in a big stack though lol

9 mono blocks in a single chassis is a far more acceptable solution than 9 separate mono amps in separate chasses. These days, most folks are looking for the powerful, the space saving and and the simple solutions. These solutions are not what 9 separate chassis offer. But other than the 1 RU height (1.75"), he already has a solution in the UPA-1. If you can't stack them in one column, try 2 colums. And, he would realize the same performance, and that is what should matter the most. Then again, he is entitled to exactly what he wants, and the UPA-1s come close, but no cigar ;D!

Hey jamrock - I see your side completely. In fact I know that what I think would be fantastic probably would sell poorly. At this point in time, power and compactness rule the day. And that's just fine with me. I'm probably just a nostalgic sort. This hobby/passion is both frustrating and entertaining. When I read through all the post about the dream gear that a lot of us have described, it makes me think differently. 4 years ago I wanted something completely different than I want now. Even I'm surprised by that! Civil critique is welcomed and desired. Always!

A one chassis 7 channel amp is going to be less expensive to buy and ship than any other number of amps that makes up 7 channels. Emo has committed to making at least a 200 wpc x 7 amp. If it is a class D or H (more likely) it will be lighter than class A/B and would ship for less. Just be patient until we know what it is going to be. And I just couldn't be patient anymore. I've been wanting a 7 channel amp at around 125 watts per, and the Outlaw amp just went on sale, so I snapped one up. About twice the size of power supply as the old UPA-7 and six output devices instead of the UPA's 4. Lower THD and higher S/N ratio. The kind of amp I was waiting for Emo to build, but no more I guess.

They look damn good. Go for the 7 x 2RU and be happy. Stop punishing yourself. I can see you drooling at post #349. Stop! Stop! Stop it!

Would you believe that there is already an amp like this out and about? 1 3/4 inches high, 200 watt mono block.

They are a bit pricey when compared to similarly equipped Emotiva amps, but as you've noticed they seem to fill a couple of niches that Emo no longer attempts to fill. And most of their amps are made in the USA. Best,

And most of their amps are made in the USA. Best, Aren't Outlaw amps still made for them by ATI? If so, yes they are assembled in the USA, but the parts come from all over the world and mainly from China, just like everyone else.

I believe their 1RU monoblock is made by someone else in Taiwan.

Assembled in the USA is better than China. ATI also builds amps for Cary and lexicon.
