This is my new record storage shelving. An idea I stole while watching U-tube. It is Ikea "Expedit" shelving; phonograph records fit it perfectly. I bought a 5x5 unit and cut it to fit: 3x5. I also bought three 2-drawer inserts for the bottom row, to store spare cables, manuals, etc. I've attached a photo; first time, hope it works. I mention this, bacause when I bought it I was told it was being discontinued; I don't know if the whole line was, or just parts. Available 5x5, 4x4, 2x2, etc. Black to match EMO, or white. Sincerely /b p.s. Ikea also has matching cd/dvd shelving. Attachments:

That's awesome man! So far i only have enough records to fill a milk crate but maybe in the future i can look into something bigger. I do have this (old picture). It's currently sitting in the basement. But it's the same idea as your Ikea piece

I tend to be a hoarder. To avoid being institutionalized, I have to force discipline upon myself. So I bought this shelving, and all my LPs have to fit on it. Once full, I can only get more by culling to make room. A lot of my albums are crap: ktel, my parents "lawrence Welk", and other discards. But I'm going to start trolling second-hand stores looking for worthy albums.
Sincerely /b

Just FYI, most people say not to store lying flat like that. The perferred method is to stand them upright. My first LP stand I had them lying flat. Everyone informend me I should turn them upright. Sorry to be a Debbie downer.

Sorry to be a Debbie downer. I thought the same thing at first when the picture opened, then I tried again and realized the photo had rotated 90 degrees, the albums are actually vertical (you can also tell by the brass vases). Edit: Oh, sorry, now I see you were talking about Kraemer.

Is the photo sideways? you must be viewing it with an Apple. I took it with my iPhone which imbeds rotation info into the photo; so it shows the correct way around when viewed with "rotation aware" software.
I corrected the rotation with Windows Photoshop, which apparently doesn't reset the rotation info; mucking up viewing in the Apple world. Haven't found a fix for that yet.

Sincerely /b Yes, looking at it with the iPad ProBoards app, the first time I open the photo it's rotated, if I close and open again it's correct (vertical). If I leave the thread and come back it's rotated the first time again. I figured you didn't lay your trash can on the side of your cabinet.

I only have a few records. They were my parents and some good ones. I have no TT to listen to one day I will and if I ever need a reack I am getting one of these. www.boltz.com/entertainment-furniture/lp-storage.htmlI have the tall boy and it is awesome I had it for like 15 years. The rubber on the casters started to warp contacted them and since it is a lifetime warranty new wheels and still looks Awesome as ever.

Just a heads up. Using that Expedit shelf wrong side up (the long shelf boards vertically not horizontally) could cause the book case to fail if you load it up with too much vinyl. You might consider anchoring it to the wall but then again it may not be an issue unless you really fill it up. Also you're using a smaller configuration then the ones I've seen fail on the internet.

You could also use some wire tensioned across the back to help secure it and keep it in place. (or some really thin plywood.)

What did you expect with particle board and lots of weight? It's pretty much sawdust already...

Yes, I have it the wrong way around (long boards vertical). I did this because it allowed me to cut it down to 3x5, with fewer cuts, drilling and changes. I have it screwed into wall studs at the top in two places. It also leans backwards towards the wall, slightly.
You have to be careful, records are heavy! But the closely spaced vertical supports of the Ikea "Expedit" shelving, makes it ideal for vertical vinyl storage.
Sincerely /b
