Much like the Mark Levinson Lexus systems and the Linn car audio systems, they are "produced in collaboration with" Krell. Same with the Bose and Infinity branded systems. So designed by and certified to be acceptable, but not necessarily made by Krell. Should sound pretty darn good though.

Thats pretty cool! Don't even get me started on how terrible the bose stereos sound in cars. The Mark Levinson stereos are good and so are some of the Harmon Kardon systems. GM neeeds to get with the times and offer something really good. I know the stereo I put in my truck was under 2K and will blow the doors off of any of these factory systems for half the price. It's still nice to have a good factory system though. Most people just don't care.

Well, I had several Porsches with Bose systems and I will tell you they sounded great. Its not the same one as you find a Chevy.... My MB has a nice HK....

It should sound pretty good. I still want to hear the Alpine / Dynaudio combo they had in the Volvo S60 a few years ago. I must say, high quality audio is really becoming popular in the luxury cars these days. B & O in Audi, B & W in Jaguar, HK, Naim, Dynaudio, Levinson, etc. I must admit my friend's G37 has the Bose studio on wheels and its not too shabby. I like my B&O in my Audi, but it's definitely overpriced.

Actually in the Porsche, Bose only builds the powered speakers. The head unit is made by Blaupunkt. Not sure about the Benz....

I wasn't just talking about Bose in a chevy and you're nuts if you think they are any different that in your porsche. same thing, just a smaller cab. The guys who did the install in my truck has won countless awards setting up systems and has done everything from Lambo's to Bentleys and everything in between. It's all the same, the speakers may be different sizes but the actual processing module is the EXACT same in every way. Placement of the speakers is important and that why it probably sounds better in your porsche but don't be fooled into thinking it's a better bose than what in everything else because it isn't. The money they charged for the system if you were building you car from the factory is pretty insane, you could use that money and install an award winning system. My wifes Audi Q5 had the B&O stereo gutted and replaced with nice JL stuff and the difference is astounding, 14 speakers with the proper amps. It cost almost half of what she paid for the option $4300 for the nav and stereo. Even SHE thinks it's an astounding difference. Not to say for most it would be fine and as far as factory systems go it's great but it's garbage compared to what you can do with an aftermarket system for a lot less. Most of the newer decks even have audyssey built in!

I also never said that you couldn't put some thing better in any car, but I'm not cutting up a 100K Porsche. Like I said, it sounded pretty good. Ever heard the Bose system in a Porsche Cayenne SUV? If you think its the same as the one in a Malibu you're dreaming.. I went through the Alpine, Dyn Audio, Precision Power, JL Sub thing about 12 years ago and built some real monster systems for two Grand Cherokee's. Problem now is the factory systems are "just good enough" so you don't want to mess with them.... If you do you have to spend $$$....

The Blose system in my new Chevy Volt is the first such system I haven't wanted to immediately rip out. It's rather decent in fact.
As to the discussion about getting what you pay for, of course you can do better than most premium OEM systems with after market parts - or at least you can in some cases. But with the tight integration of head units into the electronics packages of so many modern cars it's almost impossible to rip and replace like we used to do. And some of the ultra high end systems I've heard are superb and you wouldn't WANT to replace them.
And no, the Bose system in a GM is not the same as a Bose system in a Porsche or a Maserati or a Nissan. They are not even manufactured by the same companies, they are custom produced for each auto manufacturer and simply license the Bose name and technology.

You should hear the HK on a Harley. Imaging gets a little vague @ 80 mph. Just kidding. Better sound than what was on my Goldwing, but not audiophile by any means.

No I haven't heard a Cayenne system but I did text my installer friend and he's worked on many.... exact same I'm afraid than in any GM or otherwise. They may be different sizes but the actual speakers are the same quality etc. It may sound different but that because the speaker placement is more though out on expensive models than in a malibu. You can tell yourself anything you want but i'll take it from my friend who's been an award winning installer for the last 18 years over what you think about the subject. This was one of his last jobs build for some rich guy's kid
