Hello folks,
I am new to Emo family. Just ordered 2xXPA-1s and a XSP1 my first real /serious audio gear. I recently inherited ;D a Bose 901 pair in almost new condition (I know people have love/hate relationship with Bose speakers) I do not intend to go there. I don't know much about audio gear so I have been reading a lot off stuff off of these forums. I want to thank you all for your posts and reviews and opinions you provide. I believe it is a great help for people like myself.
Thanks again....SK

Welcome to the Lounge, SK. I would be interested in hearing your impressions of the XPAs/XSP paired with the 901s. Congrats on the new gear!

You couldn't have done any better for super two channel sound for many times the price you paid! Congratulations! You learn very fast and have made superb choices for your "first real/serious audio gear." I owned the original 901's in the early 70's. I spent some seriuos time listening to them back then before the succeeding series that supposedly made them more sensitive. I won't go there with my opinions according to your request, but if you PM me I can give you my thoughts, which you might or might not wish to hear. ;D Please let us know more about your toys and how you like the XPA-1 and XSP-1.

Welcome to the Lounge. Sounds like you'll have plenty of power for those 901's. I had a friend back in the day with a pair of 901's. I'll say this: They play loud!

Welcome!
What year are those 901s? With the EQ correct? They need to be well away from any walls to sound their best. If you need any advice on how to hook it up with the XPS-1, just ask away.

Welcome! ;D You made a great choice and the XSP-1 + XPA-1s will be a fantastic combination. There's nothing like going straight to the flagship products out of the gate! Your 901s will have never sounded better.

Great choice of Emo components. These should mate well with your 901s. If you have the 901 Series VI, you will have excellent 2 channel audio. Don't be persuaded by the anti-Bose bias. Every company has good and not so good products. Enjoy the music. And let us know how much you do ;D

Thank you all....
I will definitely be asking questions about this set up.
Bose 901s belonged to a good friend who owned these since new with matching EQ for the series and stands. I always loved how these speakers sounded and listend to hours of music whenever we were together. My friend moved overseas and gave me these speakers.
Apart from CDs I have a small collection of vinyl and am planning to hook up my TT (Dual CS-514) to this setup. I ordered two balanced XLR cables & RCA cables along with amps. What else will I need to put this setup together?

Welcome to the forum! 901's need plenty of power, and you will have it!! If they are an early series (I or II), you may want to have the Equalizer recapped to make sure it's working at its best. As you probably know, the EQ is very important in the 901's sounding as they should. It should be easy to connect between the XSP-1 and the XPA-1's ... or maybe in the processor loop of the XSP-1. Enjoy your new gear!

It should be easy to connect between the XSP-1 and the XPA-1's ... or maybe in the processor loop of the XSP-1. +1 That would be the ideal place to put the EQ since regardless of input the EQ will be engaged. Just make sure the display says "PrON" and you are set.

Alright friends I am back again...
Received my XSP-1 and XDA-2. I don't think I can add anything more than has already been said about the quality of these units, built packaging etc.
Bootman, I need your help in hooking up my 901's with this setup. I guess the EQ connects to the Proc loop on XSP? On the EQ part do I connect this to TAPE of Pre-Amp side?
Here is what I am planning. a. connect my computer to XDA-2 b. connect the TT to Phono c. from XDA-2 XLR's to the XSP-1 d. from XSP-1 XLR's to XPA'a
Do I need to adjust anything on the XSP back (high-pass, low-pass) fro my speakers?
This setup is for listening to music 90% of the time.
Thank you Kardar
