I guess that makes sense. Amps are usually much more reliable.

I had an Adcom GFA-555 (original version) for almost 20 years. It worked fine when I sold it. Had to replace the RCA inputs. I had damaged one of them having the unit too close to the wall when positioning it and tweaked one channel's input (the input cable was attached). Couldn't buy the parts, buy generic RCAs were fitted and it kept chugging along unless I bought something different. I think I paid about $750 for it in 1988. Got my money's worth for sure.

For anybody interested, I got this email from Olive today: Hey Jorge, Olive ONE has built-in dual HD amplifiers and is designed for direct connection to passive speakers. It comes with a unique cable management system - called the Olive Pac! - that handles its connectivity to power and speakers. One simple ultra-thin cable combines power and audio and runs from Olive ONE to Pac! From there the signals are distributed to the (left + right) speakers and to your power outlet. The cable neatly hides underneath a fabric sleeve, and you can flexibly adjust the cable length to avoid cable clutter. Additionally, the ONE offers Wi-Fi Certified Miracast, Bluetooth (A2DP), and Wi-Fi Direct for in- and output of audio to your TV, smartphone and other UPnP capable devices such as PC, Mac and NAS. Wi-Fi Miracast can also be used to display the ONE's user interface on your TV. We have designed Olive ONE in a way that we can also provide regular analog and digital audio outputs (RCA and Optical, via a special connector) and will ask the crowd at the end of the campaign if we should implement this as a separate accessory. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact us toll free at 1.877.BY.OLIVE or simply reply to this email. We look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for supporting Olive ONE! best regards, Your friends at Olive P.S. Please check out our new website at www.myoliveone.com to get the latest infos about ONE. For a quick overview of the specifications please download our data sheet at downloads.olive.us/indiegogo/ONE_datasheet.pdfSounds to me like The One will not include outputs initially unless the 'crowd' of early adopters demands them; and then, only as an accessory Oh well, if it sounds too good to be true...

Thanks for digging that up.
My thoughts exactly. It might be good with an optical out.
That being said, an iPad mini isn't a bad player either, though it doesn't have the hd or flac options.
