Have an opportunity to get a pair of XPA 100 for good price in Canada. I would be using them for my Monitor Audio rx 6 fronts and let the Anthem MRX 500 take care of the rest. My previous setup used an XPA 5 running all 5 speakers. Just wondering if the XPA 100 would be overkill for the rx6 or would be a good fit. Not saying the mrx 500 is having issues because it sounds great but have an opportunity. Room is 19x 11 x8 in semi dedicated carpeted lower level room with sitting distance 9 ft away. I was planning on a different 5 channel amp before this came to my attention.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.

Isn't the 100 a mono block version of the amp module in the XPA5? It would probably be similar to the XPA5 in terms if sound. If you still have the XPA5, connect a single channel of it to the Anthem AVR. It should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect.

The XPA-100 isn't overkill for any speaker. It's 250/400. Definitely not overpowered.

I had 2 UPA-1's driving my RX6's and now have a XPA-5 driving all 5 channels of my HT, if you are thinking of or have a second zone you could power your RX6's with the mono's and use 2 channels of the XPA-5 for second zone, that's what I was thinking of doing if I was to buy 2 XPA-1L's but I went with a UPA-200 to drive my outdoors instead. I really don't think you will notice much of a difference between the XPA-5 and the XPA-100, even channel separation on the XPA-5 is outstanding in my system, as for the MRX500 I have never heard one myself but if you liked the sound of the XPA-5 over the MRX500 then I say go for it.
I do miss my UPA-1's but I think more for the fact they were my first pieces of gear entering the separate world and they do sound amazing as does my XPA-5

Thanks for the input guys. Another concern I would like you to lay to rest has to do with my surround rxfx rated at 85 watts is an amplifier rating of 200 watts going to harm it I know less power will do more damage but just want someone with experience to tell me it's fine. Just don't want to have a mismatched system.

Don't worry about the watts rating, you could drive the RXFX with XPR-1's if you wanted but it would most likely be insane overkill...but they would sound really nice I would imagine lol. For example I use the Emotiva UAC-8.2 ceiling speakers for my rears and the specs state they are rated for amplifiers 10-150 watts and they run off my XPA-5 into 4ohms - 300 watts no prob. Just connect whatever amplifier you like and sit back and enjoy.... Chad
